Wang Zhenduo's Social Comments

Wang Zhenduo, 6 1 year-old, vice chairman of Qingyuan Calligraphers Association, one of the few members of Guangdong Calligraphers Association in our city. He has high attainments in calligraphy, but most people don't know that his "legitimate occupation" is a painted porcelain craftsman, and he began to learn calligraphy at the age of 40.

Wang Zhenduo entered the colored porcelain workshop of Qingyuan Porcelain Factory on 1963 until 1997 Porcelain Factory went bankrupt and dissolved. Colored porcelain is mostly sold to ancestral temples and primary and secondary schools in rural areas, with festive and popular patterns painted on them or posters promoting social morality. At first, he was only responsible for painting on tiles. One day, the workmate in charge of writing suddenly changed jobs, and the writing job naturally fell into the hands of Wang Zhenduo. Driven by work needs and interests, Wang Zhenduo began to formally study calligraphy.

Wang Zhenduo studied under the predecessors of Qingyuan calligraphy, such as Liang Feng and Huang. That year was about 1987, and Wang Zhenduo was in his forties. Like many calligraphy lovers, Wang Zhenduo attended calligraphy classes held by Huang, Liang Feng and others at night schools. Until 1996, Wang Zhenduo had made great achievements in calligraphy, participated in many provincial exhibitions and became a member of the Provincial Calligraphers Association. Wang Zhenduo continued to learn, integrated the calligraphy of ancient masters, and strived to form his own characteristics, which was recognized by the calligraphy circle: in 2002, his calligraphy works were selected for calligraphy exhibitions in Guangdong and Taiwan Province provinces; In 2005, he was selected for the Pan-Pearl River Delta Calligraphy Exhibition.

Wang Zhenduo still insists on practicing calligraphy for one or two hours every day. He is keen to participate in various activities organized by Qingyuan Calligraphers Association. He is surrounded by a group of "like-minded" friends who often chat and learn calligraphy in his colored porcelain business department. His living room is his painting and calligraphy room. The TV set that should have been in the living room was shrunk into a small room. His calligraphy works are everywhere in the living room, filled with hundreds of brushes, large and small, which have been used in the past 20 years. Wang Zhenduo likes traveling, especially visiting other cities and observing signs. He said that very good calligraphy works can often be seen on signboards in Beijing and Xi, which is a kind of visual art enjoyment.

Wang Zhenduo, who has studied calligraphy for nearly 20 years, has come to realize that calligraphy is a deep art, and even a connoisseur of calligraphy who doesn't write calligraphy must understand the characteristics of famous artists. Learning calligraphy is definitely not as simple as practicing good handwriting. You should integrate your own experience and characteristics into calligraphy. After a hard copying stage, calligraphy began to become "not ugly", and "the uglier the words are" made people hesitate to continue learning, which is also the distress of learning calligraphy. Wang Zhenduo still remembers that when he first learned calligraphy, he once bought a collection of works by national calligraphers. In his view at that time, it should be the highest realm of calligraphy, but he didn't understand it at all and his handwriting was not good-looking. Later, he gradually understood the ingenuity and "beauty". Wang Zhenduo, who just learned calligraphy, once saw a beautiful couplet in Xiakuo Street in Qingcheng, so he went to see it for more than 20 times. Today, he seems to be just a "good word".

Before the age of 40, Wang Zhenduo had many hobbies, such as playing the violin, singing, international dancing, painting, and then calligraphy. He said that if there is one thing that you can never pursue to the top, then the process of pursuing is worth enjoying and appreciating, and calligraphy is his greatest pursuit. On this road, even a little experience can make him feel great gains, which makes him more satisfied and happy than money.
