Chen Xianzhang (1428? 1500), a thinker, educator, calligrapher and poet in the Ming Dynasty, was the only Confucian master in the Ming Dynasty who dedicated himself to the Confucius Temple in Guangdong. He advocated learning expensive, knowing doubts and thinking independently, and advocated a more free and open style of study, and gradually formed his own characteristic school, known as Jiangmen School in history. The word Gong Fu, Shi Zhai, alias Jasper Old Man, Yutai Lay Man, Jiangmen Fisherman, Nanhai Woodcutter, Huang Yun Old Man, etc. They are called Mr. Baisha because they used to live in Baisha village. A native of Xinhui District, Jiangmen City, Guangdong Province, went to the Ritual Department twice in the twelfth year of orthodoxy. He studied under Professor Wu Yubi's Neo-Confucianism, returned after half a year, lived in Baisha Li, built Yangchuntai, studied and sat still, stayed indoors for several years, and went to Beijing to propose a toast to imperial academy, so that Xing Rang could come back to be a real Confucian. In the nineteenth year of Chenghua, he was awarded a review by Hanlin and begged for help to return to China. The work was later compiled into the Complete Works of White Sands.
