Liu Fuchang's External Evaluation

Liu Fuchang's calligraphy art, with some rhythms and flavors of modern aesthetic consciousness and sister art, combined with literary accomplishment, has formed its own unique calligraphy style, which has an important influence in China's calligraphy circle. As early as 1980s, Mr. Huang Qi, the vice chairman of China Calligraphy Association, praised Liu Fuchang's calligraphy works as "excellent young people who are self-taught". Mr. Li Duo, a civilian general and vice chairman of China Calligraphy Association, commented on Liu Fuchang's winning works at the awarding ceremony of "The First National Regular Script Competition". Mr. Lan Tianye, a famous drama performance artist and painter, collects Liu Fuchang's calligraphy works and thinks that "the calligraphy style is pure and the character is good".

Liu Fuchang studied books since childhood, starting from Yan Liu, dating back to Qin Zhuan, Weibei and Han Li, and all the way to the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties. Especially good at books such as Su, Huang, Mi, Cai, etc., especially cursive. His books are both exquisite and changeable of the "two kings", frank and natural of Mifei, and do not lose the spirit of the valley. He remembered the artistic features of the ancients, such as brushwork, structure and composition, and boldly created it, which, to a certain extent, kept the essential literary attributes of calligraphy more. As we all know, a calligrapher's creative style is difficult to shape, and Liu Fuchang's calligraphy will take the lead no matter where it is placed. The feeling of view includes the artistic conception of poetry, the soul of painting and the melody of music. There is both the moderation and peace of Confucianism and the understanding of Zen people, thus elucidating an ancient love affair. It should be said that the greatest charm of Liu Fu's long books lies not in the lines of pen and ink itself, but in the rich literati temperament revealed from them, which is what we often call the soul of books.

Liu Fuchang's cursive works pay attention to expressing the thoughts, feelings, aesthetic tastes and even philosophical ideas of the times. He emphasizes the reflection and echo of brush strokes, likes to use changeable rhythm, emphasizes the dryness and wetness of pen and ink and the beauty of structural modeling, and is more imaginative and spiritual in the weight and convergence of brush strokes. To a great extent, it absorbs and draws lessons from ancient and modern Chinese and foreign art forms with national styles and characteristics of the times, skillfully combines practicality with curve beauty, and presents ups and downs and wonderful and extraordinary artistic effects. It can be said that "painting is colorless and colorful, music is silent and harmonious" (in Shen), so his books can impress countless viewers with a fresh air and a quiet and broad-minded feeling, and are deeply loved by the public.
