analyse

This poem satirizes Qi Xianggong, Lu Huangong and Wen Jiang.

According to Zuo Zhuan's Eighteen Years of Huan Gong, in 694 BC, Lu Huangong took his wife Wen Jiang (half-sister) to Qi, and Qi Xianggong, who had a * * * relationship with Wen Jiang, took the opportunity to have an affair with Wen Jiang again, which was discovered by Lu Huangong and condemned him. Wen Jiang told Qi Xianggong that Qi Xianggong hosted a banquet for Lu Huangong. When Lu Huangong got drunk, he sent someone to drive Huan Gong home and killed him on his way home. This poem satirizes Qi Xianggong, Lu Huangong and Wen Jiang.

The first two chapters of this poem aim at satirizing Wen Jiang's marriage to another woman and his concern for Qi Xianggong, while the last two chapters satirize Lu Huangong's failure to protect his wife.

Because the objects of satire are Lu Huangong, Qi Xianggong and Wen Jiang, poetry only refers to them with very obscure metaphors, such as the slow-walking male fox. With shoes and hats, Wenjiang and Lu Huangong got married.

Through this poem, we can see that women have always attached great importance to their husbands' death. People's moral concept does not allow women to wander back and forth between several men, which is considered to be contrary to human relations and immoral. Now people's demands for love and marriage are no longer unilateral. A happy marriage inevitably requires both husband and wife to be loyal to each other in order to grow old together.
