Literary appreciation
Cui Hao's "Four Long Songs" is contained in "All Poems of Tang Dynasty" (volume 130). The following is the appreciation of this group of poems by Mr. Shen, a former professor of Central University.
The first two poems in this group capture the dramatic moments in the fragments of life, and with a few strokes, the characters and scenes come to life. It has no color background, like an ink; It is a sketch without any decoration; It does not rely on any scenery to borrow money, just like a duet between men and women; It was cut short, highlighted the trunk, and looked like a one-act play. The theme is so ordinary, but the expression is so extraordinary.
First, watch the clip of the first song: A girl who lives in Hengtang heard the voice of a man on a neighboring boat while rowing, so she naively asked: Are you from my hometown? -it is such a simple plot. Just use "near here, next to the fishing pond?" The heroine points out the speaker's gender and place of residence. The word "stop the boat" means that it is a water encounter, and the word "jun" means that the other party is a male. The current narrative of the topic is completely omitted by this method of killing two eggs with one stone. The beginning of the poem comes straight to the point, so that the heroine asks questions and appears on the paper, and the reader hears her as if she saw the voice of a person, without any feeling of confusion. Judging from the skills of literary description, it is full of sound and emotion, reaching the artistic height of "everything should be endless", which is both concise and exquisite.
Moreover, in several crosses, the poet only vividly wrote the heroine's voice, face and smile. Unlike Du Mu, who wrote "More than 13 waves curled up", and unlike Li Shangyin, who pointed out that "fifteen mourns hung on his back". He only asked questions, and without waiting for the other party to answer, he eagerly reported that he was "near here, by the fishing pond?" Naturally, the age of the heroine is set off from the finals and childish tone. Now that the hero has stopped talking, the little girl has the idea of "if we belong to the same town". Because she heard several words with local accent. Here, the poet omits the joint of "asking questions because of hearing voices", which is a kind of off-word description, and the so-called "writing without writing"
This poem also shows the heroine's situation and inner loneliness. From the fact that she was in a hurry to "stop the boat" when she heard the local accent, we can see that she left her hometown and stayed in the water, lonely and unaccompanied, with no one to talk to. So I was overjoyed to hear the voice of my hometown in a foreign country and regard my hometown as my hometown. The poet not only reproduces the heroine's voice and smile on paper, but also deeply digs into her character and heart.
The language of poetry is simple and natural, just like folk songs. There is a tradition of duet between men and women in folk songs, which is called "harmony" in Yuefu poems. So after the first female voice began to sing, it was the hero's answer. Yes, I live here. The riverside answered the question told me. Where do you live? . "I have sailed on it many times" shows that he is also a popular water resident, otherwise there would be no chance. Here, the initial point awakens the similarities between the two. "We were both born in Chang Gan, you and me!" Realized the idea of "if we belong to the same town" as a girl. It turned out that her hometown was Changganli, Jiankang (now Nanjing, Jiangsu). A word "same" deepens the similarities between the two sides. These three sentences are the keynote of the hero's straight line. There are only five words left in the last sentence. How to ink? It would be unfair to end with such auspicious words as "I met today". At last, the poet turned to his pen and found out his original intention: it is better to cherish strangers in the past than to know each other today. The word "I didn't know since I was a child" seems to regret that I didn't have a childhood friend, and neither of the children guessed correctly, which actually highlights the fact that we met late today. The more I regret the past, the more I cherish the chance meeting here and now. What is the artistic appeal of this somersault?
"Changganqu" is an old topic in the "Zaqu Ancient Ci" of Yuefu in the Southern Dynasties. Cui Hao's two poems inherit the legacy of the previous generation of folk songs, but they are neither gorgeous nor charming, neither romantic nor enthusiastic, but they are good at simplicity and truth, and they are written cleanly and healthily. The heroine's expression only ends with "If we belong to the same town". And the protagonist's expression is only limited to "unfamiliar since childhood." This innocence is the best in lyric poetry.
