Appreciation of Baudelaire's love poem Inviting a Tour

Baudelaire [France]

Good boy, little sister,

Think about how sweet this is,

Live there with you!

In that place like you

In the same country,

Love each other slowly until death do us part!

In the gloomy sky,

The wet sun,

Has infinite charm for my heart,

How mysterious, like you.

Faithful eyes

Shine through tears.

Where there is only beauty and order,

Only luxury, tranquility and fun.

In our house,

I'm going to decorate

Furniture polished by years;

exotic flowers and rare herbs

Spit out the fragrance,

Mixed with the hazy fragrance of Long Xianxiang,

Algae-rich wells,

Deep mirror,

The luxury and splendor of oriental flavor,

Be kind to people

Secretly pour out your feelings,

Speak a sweet mother tongue.

Where there is only beauty and order,

Only luxury, tranquility and fun.

Look at the canal.

Sleeping ship,

I want to wander overseas in my heart;

In order to satisfy you

Just a gesture,

They come from the ends of the earth.

-Sunset,

Give canals, fields,

The whole city was painted gold.

Purple and blue;

the four seas—the whole country

Enter a warm and glorious sleeping place.

Where there is only beauty and order,

Only luxury, tranquility and fun.

(translated by Qian Chunkun)

Inviting a Tour is Baudelaire's most famous poem, written in praise of his second lover, Mary Dubran. A Review of Two Worlds was first published in June 1855.

In Flowers of Evil, there are few passionate and lively poems like inviting you to swim, but it is not unique. The title of the first part of "Flowers of Evil" is "Melancholy and Ideal". As far as Baudelaire's poems are concerned, of course, there is more pain than pursuit and more melancholy than longing, because this is Baudelaire's real experience in real life.

In the poem, Baudelaire issued a sincere and eager call, calling on his lover to follow him to that magical and happy place! Baudelaire's poems are mostly poetic, flexible and powerful. In addition, the invitation to travel is also more in depth. Baudelaire shows a fascinating prospect in his poems, which coincides with his lover. In the poet's eyes, the scenery has become a lover, and the lover has become a landscape. The two are at arm's length and are integrated in a spiritual intoxication. In the harmony between lover and scenery, sunshine can become moist like lover's eyes, the sky can suddenly become gloomy like lover's face, and lover's tears can also be detained and mysterious. As a result, furniture, flowers, algae wells, mirrors, canals, boats and sunset have all melted into the tenderness of lovers. In a land like Little Sister, the poet wants to "love each other slowly until death do us part!" "

Baudelaire has pursuit and expectation. In the invitation tour, his pursuit and expectation are beauty, order, luxury, tranquility and fun. He has long abandoned the excessive enthusiasm and fanaticism of romantics.

It is said that Baudelaire wrote this poem because he was inspired by a Dutch landscape painting. In French literature, the Netherlands has always been regarded as a blessed land, where it is calm and mysterious. On April 25th, 1864, Baudelaire arrived in Brussels, Belgium. But Belgium left a bad impression on him. The poet was sad to go back to Paris, but he was short of money. Then he became ill, so Holland naturally stopped going.

The poem "Inviting a Tour" is full of the joy of life, and the most prominent feature in form is a strong sense of rhythm: two lines of five-syllable sentences, one line of seven-syllable sentences, and the last two lines of seven-syllable sentences, with the rhyme aabccb, form a paragraph. There are three paragraphs in the whole poem, and the last two lines of seven-tone sentences in each paragraph are exactly the same, which are overlapping sentences. The reduplication here describes the essence of ideal beauty, which is shared by women and nature, but it refers not only to appearance, but also to heart. Fast but not urgent, light but not floating, ups and downs, making people feel gentle and sweet.
