Original text:
The bright moon scares the magpies on the other branches, and the breeze sings the cicadas in the middle of the night. The fragrance of rice flowers means a good harvest. Listen to the sound of frogs.
Seven or eight stars are outside the sky, and two or three points of rain are in front of the mountain. In the old days, Maodian Society was by the forest. The road turns to the creek and the bridge suddenly appears.
Translation:
The bright moon in the sky rose above the treetops, frightening away the magpies perched on the branches. The cool evening breeze seemed to carry the distant chirping of cicadas. In the aroma of rice flowers, people are talking about the good harvest year, and there are bursts of frogs croaking in their ears, as if they are talking about the good harvest year.
Light clouds floated in the sky, twinkling stars appeared and disappeared, and a light rain fell in front of the mountain. The familiar Maodian hut from the past was still located in the woods near the Tutu Temple. After turning a corner, Maodian suddenly appeared in front of us. Extended information
1. Creative background
This is a poem written by Xin Qiji when he was passing by Huangshaling Road in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province in his middle age. Xin Qiji became a frontier official in the Southern Song Dynasty, but his upright arguments and decisive and capable style, especially his political advocacy of resumption of the Anti-Japanese War, were resented by his colleagues and attacked by the highest ruling class.
In the eighth year of Chunxi reign of Emperor Xiaozong of the Song Dynasty (1181), Xin Qiji was dismissed from office because he was marginalized by traitorous ministers. He returned to his home in Daihu, Shangrao, where he lived for nearly fifteen years, living an idle life. life of retirement. During this period, although he also had a brief career as an official, he mostly lived in Shangrao, where he left many poems. This poem is one of them.
2. Appreciation
The Huangsha Ridge mentioned in this word is forty miles west of Shangrao County. The ridge is about fifteen feet high, deep and open, and can accommodate a hundred people. There are two springs below. Water flows out from the rocks and can irrigate more than ten acres of fields. This area not only has beautiful scenery, but is also an area with good farmland and water conservancy.
Xin Qiji often visited here during his stay in Shangrao. About five of his poems describing the scenery in this area are extant, namely: two poems "Shengchazi Traveling Alone to Xiyan" and one "Huanxisha Huangshaling" , the song "Partridge Sky: Things Happening on the Yellow Sand Road", and this song "Moon on the Xijiang River: Night Walk on the Yellow Sand Road".
On the surface, the theme and content of this poem are just some seemingly ordinary scenery. The language has no embellishment, no allusions, and the hierarchical arrangement is completely natural and plain. However, just in the seemingly plain, there are the poet's painstaking conception and honest feelings. Here, readers can also appreciate another realm of Jiaxuan's poetry beyond the majestic and heroic.
This word is intended to describe the night scene of Huangshaling: bright moon, clear breeze, sparse stars and sparse rain, startling magpies and cicadas, fragrant rice flowers, and the sound of frogs. The whole poem describes the scenery of the mountain village on a summer night from the three aspects of vision, hearing and smell. The scenes are blended, beautiful and picturesque, quiet and natural, vivid and lifelike. It is a masterpiece of Song Dynasty poetry with the theme of rural life.
