As early as the Book of Songs and Erya, there were many poems describing owls. The Book of Songs says, "The feather of an owl is embarrassing. Zhen Zhenxi, a descendant of Yi 'er, expressed people's beautiful desire for happiness by comparing the prosperity of the family with bandits and the prosperity of future generations with their harmony. In the Tang and Song Dynasties, pine caterpillars were raised and the sound of grasshoppers was used for fun.

During the Ming and Qing dynasties, from the emperor to the people, they all liked insects. Liu Ruoyu, the eunuch of the Ming Dynasty, recorded in the History of the Forbidden City in the Ming Dynasty: "Ancestors are children and grandchildren, raised in the deep palace, accompanied by Po, or they don't know the importance of bearing children, but only concentrate on dragons, failing to make full use of fish. They keep cats and pigeons. Those who are famous for keeping cats, babies and carrying on the family line just want to take this opportunity to erode their vitality.

The emperor kept pets in the palace to show the scenery to future generations and make the royal family more prosperous. It is also intentional to use the words "Zi Si" and "Qian Ying" to name the palace gate.
