The legend of five-color glutinous rice

Legend has it that Wei is a smart and strong local minister. In order to relieve the people's suffering, Wei Dagui invited the local emperor to visit Zhuangxiang to save the emperor's imperial grain. The local tyrants later found out that they had been taken in, regarded them as eyesores, and ordered Wei to be arrested and brought to justice. People in Zhuangxiang heard about it and sent it to Guangxi overnight to hide in the mountains.

The soldiers of the imperial court could not catch Wei, so they let him go. It was the third day of the third month of the lunar calendar. After the imperial army left, the villagers buried Wei beside the maple tree with tears in their eyes. And it happened that the emperor was killed by a five-color snake. On March 3rd every year, the Zhuang people dye glutinous rice in red, yellow, purple, black, white and five colors with plant juices such as maple leaves, and take it to the mountains for sacrifice.
