Floating dust has no roots. This poem was written by Mo Wen, a vagrant.
The last sentence in Wandering Mo Wen is "Duckweed drifts without roots" or "Duckweed gathers without roots". (There are two versions) There is a similar saying: "Duckweed drifts without roots, and Mo Wen wanders all over the world", which means: Duckweed is born without roots and goes with the flow, which often means that people are drifting.
