Petofi [Hungary]
It's just dawn and dusk,
I just came, but I will come again.
Shortly after we met,
It's time to say goodbye again and to part.
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
I used to be a poet, but now I am a soldier.
My hand is not holding the piano, but holding the sword.
There has always been a golden star guiding me,
Then the red northern lights flashed at me.
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
I didn't leave you for honor. ...
Happy roses are blooming on my head,
Without laurel's position,
I don't want to throw roses aside for laurel.
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
I didn't leave you for honor,
You know: my desire is long gone,
If necessary, I only shed blood for my country,
For my motherland, I went to the battlefield of bloody battle.
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
Even if no one defends the motherland,
I still have to defend her alone;
Besides, everyone is fighting now,
Can I stay at home alone?
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
I'm not asking you: miss your lover,
Although he fought for his motherland and for you;
But I know you. I know you very well.
I am the only one you miss.
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
When I come back, I may be disabled,
But you didn't change your mind,
I want to swear: I brought back loyal love,
As complete as when he left.
Farewell, my beautiful young lover,
My heart, my love, my soul, my life!
(translated by Sun Yong)
This lyric poem, written on the eve of the poet's participation in the liberation movement of the motherland, is a continuation of the previous poem, compared with the previous one, "The autumn wind is whispering in the Woods ...".
This poem was written by the poet who bid farewell to his beloved wife You Liya and joined the liberation movement of the motherland. Deep attachment to his beloved wife and strong enthusiasm for participating in the liberation movement of the motherland constitute two poetic levels that set off each other. It is not only a farewell poem, but also an oath of dedication to the great liberation of the motherland. This poem further expresses the poet's noble sentiments and great ideals.
It took the poet and his beloved wife just over a year to get married and break up (1847 September-1849 1 month). The happy time of the wedding comes and goes in a hurry, fleeting, and the poet is inevitably sad. The poem begins with such an emotion: "We will meet soon,/It's time to say goodbye and goodbye." The poet broke up with his wife and wanted to be a "warrior" holding a sword. The poet did this not to pursue personal honor, but to "go to the battlefield of bloody battles" for the liberation of the motherland. The poet has made up his mind, and nothing can shake him: "Even if no one is going to defend the motherland,/I will still defend her alone;" Besides, everyone is fighting now./Can I stay at home alone? "The poet solved the relationship between the lover and the motherland, personal happiness and liberation: the wife is a member of the motherland, fighting for the motherland, and also fighting for the lover. Personal destiny and the future of the motherland are unified. The poet is not afraid of sacrifice. He is as confident about love as he is about the future of his motherland: "I may be disabled when I come back,/but you still haven't changed your mind at that time./I swear, I brought back faithful love,/as complete as when I left. "Always be loyal to your motherland, always be loyal to your love, and always be loyal to your revolutionary beliefs. The perfect combination of the three is the poet's highest ideal, and also the most touching thoughts and feelings expressed by the poet when he bid farewell to his wife.
1849 1 Three months after the poem Farewell was written, the poet resolutely joined the army commanded by General Bem and set foot on the battlefield of liberating the motherland. Half a year later, on July 3 1, 1949, the 26-year-old poet gave his young life for the sacred liberation of the motherland.
This poem expresses thoughts and feelings in the first person, and expresses the theme of the poem in the form of the poet pouring out his heart to his beloved wife when saying goodbye. This lyrical form and technique not only meet the requirements of the theme of "farewell", but also endow the whole poem with the emotional tone and tone of combining rigidity with softness, which is helpful to express more rich thoughts and feelings. For example, "I used to be a poet, but now I am a soldier." /I don't have a piano, but I have a sword. " This tone is soft and calm, but it contains the revolutionary ambition in my heart. "If necessary, I will only bleed for my motherland/I will go to the battlefield of bloody battle for my motherland". These two poems are more revolutionary, but they do not use impassioned rhetoric, but continue to maintain the unified tone of the whole poem. At the end of each section, there are two lines as the conclusion: "Farewell, my young and beautiful lover,/my heart, my love, my soul and my life!" It shows the poet's deep affection for his beloved wife who is hard to give up but determined to give up, which is different from the feelings and intonation of the main content of the whole poem and turns into kindness and enthusiasm. This change highlights the form and content of this poem.
