Toad: A thin horse. Maple leaves are falling on the open river, cold smoke is floating on the river, and the west wind is blowing. The skinny horse can't stand the whip.
It is already late autumn and early winter, and the maple leaves fall into the river, and the chill attacks people. In such a bleak environment, a weak horse hobbled and couldn't stand the whip any more. The desolate atmosphere and the image of "invincible whip" created vividly depict the exhausted and powerless situation of the thin horse, which is exactly the poet's description of his friend's frustrated return home, eager to try and vulnerable. The poem conveys the poet's sympathy in a tortuous way, which is heartbreaking.
