Dong Zhongshu studied hard since childhood and was promoted to a doctor by Han Jing. When he arrived at Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, he accepted the suggestion of the palace and set up a doctor in Yi, Shu, Shi, Li and Chunqiu, each of whom was called "Doctor of the Five Classics", and the doctor became a scholar specializing in teaching Confucian classics.
