As the mother river of Nanyang people, Baihe River's trunk and tributaries run through most areas. The famous Huangshan Cultural Site and Phoenix Mountain Cultural Site are both on the banks of the Baihe River, forming a unique river culture. On the north bank of Nanyang City, about 200 meters away from Yuyang Bridge, there is an ancient architectural complex-Tian Fei Temple, which was built in the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty. Although dilapidated and occupied in many places, this is a rare sea temple built in the north to commemorate Mazu, which shows that Nanyang shipping was developed at that time.
During the Ming and Qing dynasties, Nanyang had developed shipping and was the intersection of land and water transportation between north and south. A large number of Shanxi and Shaanxi businessmen came here, which gave birth to Shedian, Yuantan, Jitan and other ancient towns. These places still retain the Shanshan guild hall where businessmen meet and discuss. Businessmen here admire Mr. Guan Yu and put him on the altar. There are also many Guandi temples in Shanshan Guild Hall.
Tian Fei, formerly known as Mazu, was a legendary figure in Putian, Fujian Province in the Song Dynasty, formerly known as Maureen, who was good at swimming at the seaside. Once a fishing boat was caught in a big storm, she saved her father and found her brother's body, which was widely praised by people. After his death, he was honored as "Poseidon" and was the patron saint of a generation of navigators in China and Southeast Asia, because he often saved people and the world, banished monsters, cured patients and saved shipwrecks. Legend has it that Zheng He went to the Western Ocean for 30 years, and his trip to Wan Li was 10, and he returned safely because of the statue of Mazu. Of course, because the technology of the ancients was not very developed, faith became a force to overcome difficulties and obstacles. Although "children don't talk about Machamp's confusion", the spiritual power of faith is immeasurable.
Is the original intention of Tian Fei Temple the same as that of Shanshan Guild Hall? Zhejiang businessmen in Fujian have also come here. According to Zhang Fuchun, a professor at Henan Normal University, this is mainly because Nanyang officials are from Fujian. I don't rule out this possibility. I prefer to believe that this is a phenomenon of cultural integration between North and South, and it is a proof of the developed shipping in Nanyang at that time. If we say, without this white river, the significance of building the Tian Fei Temple will cease to exist. Since Mazu is a sea god, he will also protect all those who sail on the river and sail all the way to the East China Sea!
On the lower reaches of the Baihe River, on the west side of the river bank, in Jiaying Village, Zhu Ying Town, there is a temple called Zushi Temple, which is a Taoist temple dedicated to Zhenwu Emperor. Xuanwu Emperor is the god of the north and the water god. Go further, there is a place called Jade Emperor Temple. I don't know if there is any place dedicated to the Jade Emperor.
On the other side of the Jade Emperor Temple is the boundary. This place is not only full of vinegar for 300 years, but also an amphibious dock. It is said that Ganlong has been here. Wollongong winds down the Baihe River, and there is a place in green camp called Yuetou, saying that the post station ends here. In fact, there are boundary pillars and posts in the lower reaches of the Baihe River. Formerly known as Zhong Jie, I understand it as an outpost at the junction of Xinye and Nanyang. Opposite the border is Gangtou, Waizi Town, Xinye County, which is the remnant vein of Wollongong. There is a Guanyin Pavilion on the bank of the Baihe River, which is called the East Pavilion by the locals. On an afternoon when the spring breeze was almost blowing and the Sophora japonica was fragrant, I went to Dongting to find a secluded place. Although the East Pavilion is simple, it is just a small attic built on the channel connecting the river and the market. However, the existing bluestone steps are smooth as jade and have almost no edges and corners, which shows a long history.
When you pass by Mr. Dong, you can stroll along the banks of the Baihe River, where it is calm and the river overflows. The river is covered with green grass, and many ducks swim leisurely and occasionally fly. The songs of unknown birds add a bit of tranquility and depth here. Yellow flowers are everywhere, weeds are overgrown, Sophora japonica flowers are fragrant and the sun is warm. This is a poetic afternoon.
On the bank of Baihe River in Xinye County, a newly-built Longwang Temple has just taken shape. The tall and majestic main hall is dedicated to the main dragon king. Anything related to water can probably be related to the dragon king.
There are Tian Fei Temple, Zushi Temple, Huang Yu Temple, Guanyin Pavilion and Longwang Temple in less than a hundred miles along the banks of Baihe River, which shows the open and tolerant attitude of Nanyang people towards God. I also pray that all the gods will give more blessings to your villagers!
