What achievements has Fan Zhongyan made in poetry and prose?

Fan Zhongyan is a famous politician and writer in the history of China. His poems, words and essays are excellent, including The Public Collection of Fan Wenzheng. Although there are not many articles handed down from ancient times, they are ideological, emotional and infectious.

Fan Zhongyan's poem "The Fisherman on the River" has only four short sentences, but the author skillfully uses the contrast to highlight the suffering of the fisherman. His poems "I'm in a Nest" and "Wealth is not my hope" reflect that Fan Zhongyan's requirements for life are extremely simple, and it is enough to solve the problem of food and clothing. Wealth has nothing to do with him.

In Fan Zhongyan's ci works, Su Muzhe is very eye-catching. The first sentence "Blue sky, yellow leaves" was used by Wang Shifu in The West Chamber in Yuan Dynasty, and the ending sentence "Wine makes people sad and turns into homesick tears" was widely praised. With touching brushstrokes and beautiful autumn scenery as the background, the author deeply depicts the lovesickness of travelers. Another word, A Trip to Yu Jie, is full of tenderness, which is also a work of this kind. In the third year of Baoyuan (1040), Fan Zhongyan was appointed as the Shaanxi ambassador to appease Yanzhou, the year of Zhizhou, against Xixia. Four years of military life has greatly broadened his horizons and increased his life experience, which is reflected in the Fisherman's Pride. Shangque describes the bleak scenery of the vast frontier, while Xiaque objectively reflects the hardships and homesickness of soldiers living in the frontier for a long time and expresses their ambition to serve the country. The poetic style is tragic and unique, which opens up a new aesthetic realm of Song Ci and opens the creative direction of Song Ci close to social life and real life.

Fan Zhongyan is most praised for his prose "The Story of Yueyang Tower". This well-known work is made to encourage his friend Teng Zongliang, and it is also a concentrated expression of Fan Zhongyan's lofty aspirations. The whole article first describes the reasons for creation and points out the key word "Chen". Then he wrote the scenery, describing what he saw and heard when climbing the stairs, both meticulous and thick ink rendering, depicting the scenery vividly. Then he wrote that in the face of such beautiful scenery, different people have different feelings, and urged Teng Zongliang to "not rejoice in things, not grieve for himself", get rid of personal gains and losses, and focus on the future of the country everywhere, thus expressing the feelings of "worrying about the world first, and enjoying the world later". The full text is exquisitely structured, combined with parallel prose, ornate in algae decoration and full of poetic meaning, and was rated as the "legendary style" of ancient prose by Athena Chu, an ancient prose writer at that time.
