Song of the Seven Sons of Macau

Do you know that Ma Gang is not my real name?

I've been away from your children for too long, mom!

But what they took was my body,

You still have my soul.

The biological mother who dreamed for 300 years!

Please call the baby's name,

Call me "Macau"!

Mom! I want to come back, mom!

Song of Seven Sons Macau is the theme song of a large TV documentary. Because of its simplicity, sincerity and profound emotion, it was quickly sung in China when Macao returned to China, which aroused strong response from compatriots in the motherland. After listening to this song, everyone burst into tears and regarded it as the "theme song" to welcome Macao's return.

In fact, the lyrics of this song are not a new work written for the return of Macao. It is the first of a group of poems called Song of Seven Sons more than 70 years ago, written by Wen Yiduo, a late professor, famous patriotic scholar and poet in Tsinghua University.

1At the beginning of 998, the chief editor of the large-scale TV movie "Macau Years" accidentally read Wen Yiduo's poems and found the Song of Seven Sons, which asked Li Haiying, a composer from Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, to compose music for it. Li Haiying recited Wen Yiduo's poem over and over again, and finished the song overnight with tears in her eyes. He integrated the characteristics of Chaoshan folk songs into it and deliberately approached Wen Yiduo's life from the orchestration. Thus, there is today's favorite "Song of Seven Sons in Macau".
