Creative background:

As for the year and place of composition of "Quiet Night Thoughts", few people have mentioned it in the past. These issues are only covered in the "Dictionary of Chinese Poetry" (the original name of the Japanese version is "Annotation and Appreciation Dictionary of Chinese Poetry"), "Chronological Commentary on the Complete Works of Li Bai" edited by An Qi, and "Selected Works of Li Bai" by Yu Xianhao. These three scholars put forward three different views.

The first one was written when Li Bai was in poverty after he "crossed the Minghai Sea" and "scattered three hundred thousand gold". Yu Xianhao's "Selected Works of Li Bai" says: "According to this poem, this poem is about homesickness after being away for a long time. It is suspected that it was written during the period of poverty after "crossing the sea in the east" and "three hundred thousand gold was scattered"." The place of composition has not been determined. Second, it was written in the fifteenth year of Kaiyuan (727), when Li Bai was twenty-seven years old, and the place of creation was probably in Shoushan, Anlu.

The "Chronological Notes on the Complete Works of Li Bai" edited by An Qi says: "The homesickness of this poem is slightly similar to that of "Traveling on an Autumn Evening" from the previous year (referring to the 14th year of Kaiyuan). Far away; there is also the word "mountain moon" in the poem, which means it was written in Shoushan, Anlu." Seventeen years old.

Anlu, in the Tang Dynasty, belonged to Anzhou (Anlu County), Huainan Road, which is now Anlu, Hubei. Shoushan is located in the northwest of Anlu. The third one was written in the 19th year of Kaiyuan (731), when Li Bai was thirty-one years old, and the work was done in Xiaoshoushan, Anlu. "Dictionary of Appreciation of Famous Ancient Chinese Poems" by Naohin Maeno and Tadashi Nagawa of Japan states: "This was written by Li Bai when he was thirty-one years old and living in Xiaoshoushan, Anlu (now Anlu City, Hubei Province). It describes the homesickness caused by the quiet moonlight. "

Yimin and Wang Caiqin believe that Li Bai's "Silent Night Thoughts" was written in the autumn of the 14th year of Kaiyuan (726) by Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty, when the author was ill in Yangzhou when he was 26 years old. .

Sun Hongliang believes that "Silent Night Thoughts" was written by Li Bai when he visited Jinling from the sixth year of Tianbao (747) to the eighth year of Tianbao (749) of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty. The place of composition was near Changqianli of Jinling. On an autumn night, when the moon and stars were sparse, the author felt homesick, so he wrote this song "Thoughts on a Quiet Night" that has been passed down through the ages and is well-known at home and abroad.
