Ancient story
Guan Bao's friendship
Guan Zhong: a statesman of the State of Qi in the Spring and Autumn Period. My name is Yi Wu, and the word Zhong is also called Guan Jingzhong. It is said that he ran business in his early years and then engaged in political activities. In the struggle between Xiao Bai (Qi Huangong), the son of Qi State, and Gong Zijiu for the throne, Guan Zhong once supported Gong Zijiu. After Xiaobai gained the throne, he put aside the past and reused Guan Zhong. Guan Zhong also assisted Qi Huangong in carrying out reforms. Politically, he carried out the system of participation in the country and contempt for the country, that is, the monarch and the second Qing were in charge of the state of Qi, and military organizations at all levels were set up in the middle school, stipulating that scholars, agriculture, industry and commerce should go their own ways; Economically, the tax reform was carried out, and the mine field was "declining with the land" (see pre-Qin tax), and some policies conducive to the development of agriculture and handicrafts were adopted.
Bao Shuya: Also known as Bao Shu, a doctor of the State of Qi in the Spring and Autumn Period, was famous for knowing people. When I was young, I was friendly with Guan Zhong and did business together. Qi Xianggong chaos, Bao Shuya with childe small white out to ju, guanzhong with Gong Zijiu out to lu. Qi Xianggong was killed, and Xiao Bai fought for the throne. Xiao Bai won the throne, namely Qi Huangong. Guan Zhong was imprisoned by Huan Gong, and Bao Shuya knew the sage of Guan Zhong, and recommended Guan Zhong to replace his position, while he was willing to live under Guan Zhong, and Qi became stronger and stronger because of Guan Zhong's governance.
"Guan Bao" refers to the politicians Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya in the Spring and Autumn Period of China in the 7th century BC. They were good friends. Guan Zhong is poor and Bao Shuya is rich, but they know and trust each other. Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya were partners in business in their early years. Guan Zhong paid very little capital, but he got a lot of money when sharing dividends. Bao Shuya didn't care. He knew that Guan Zhong's family had a heavy burden and asked Guan Zhong, "Is this money enough?" On several occasions, Guan Zhong helped Bao Shuya with his ideas, but he botched things. Bao Shuya was not angry, but comforted Guan Zhong, saying, "Things can't be done, not because of your bad ideas, but because of the bad timing. Don't mind." Guan Zhong had been an official for three times, but he was dismissed every time. Bao Shuya thought it was not that Guan Zhong had no talent, but that he had not met anyone who appreciated him. Guan Zhong joined the army to fight, but ran away when he got cold feet. Bao Shuya didn't laugh at Guan Zhong's fear of death. He knew that Guan Zhong was worried about his elderly mother at home.
Later, both Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya went into politics. At that time, the state of Qi was in chaos, and the princes fled to other countries to wait for opportunities in order to avoid disasters. Guan Zhong assisted the prince who lived in Lu, while Bao Shuya served another prince of Qi, Xiaobai, in Ju. Soon, there was a riot in Qi, the king was killed and the country lost its monarch. When Wang Zi and Xiao Bai heard the news, they set off for Qi in a hurry, trying to seize the throne. The two teams happened to meet on the road. Guan Zhong shot an arrow at Xiaobai in order to make him king, but it just hit the hook on Xiaobai's belt and didn't hurt Xiaobai. Later, Xiao Bai became king, known as "Qi Huangong" in history.
as soon as Qi Huangong became king, he asked Lu to kill the prince and imprison Guan Zhong. Qi Huangong wants Bao Shuya to be the prime minister and help him run the country. Bao Shuya, however, thinks that he has no ability to be a prime minister. He strongly recommended Guan Zhong, who was imprisoned in Lu. Bao Shuya said: "I am not as good as Guan Zhong in governing the country. Guan Zhong is kind, loyal, honest, able to formulate a standardized national system, and good at commanding the army. This is all I don't have, so if your majesty wants to govern the country well, he can only ask Guan Zhong to be the prime minister. " Qi Huangong disagreed. He said, "Guan Zhong shot me with an arrow and almost killed me. If I don't kill him, how can I make him prime minister?" Bao Shuya immediately said, "I heard that wise monarchs don't hold grudges. What's more, Guan Zhong was working for the prince at that time. A man can serve his master faithfully, and he will certainly serve the king faithfully. If your majesty wants to dominate the world, he cannot succeed without Guan Zhong. You must appoint him. " Qi Huangong was finally persuaded by Bao Shuya to take Guan Zhong back to Qi.
Guan Zhong returned to Qi and became prime minister, but Bao Shuya was willing to be Guan Zhong's assistant. Under the joint efforts of Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya, Qi became the most powerful country among the vassal states, and Qi Huangong became the overlord among the vassal kings.
After Bao Shuya's death, Guan Zhong cried in front of his grave. Thinking of Bao Shuya's understanding and support, he lamented: "At the beginning, the prince I assisted failed to rectify, and other ministers swore loyalty to death, but I was willing to be imprisoned. Bao Shuya didn't laugh at me for my lack of integrity. He knew that I didn't care about my reputation for a while in order to make a great cause. It was my parents who gave birth to me, but it was Bao Shuya who really understood me! "
The deep friendship between Guan Zhong and Bao Shuya has become a legendary story in China. In China, people often use the term "a close friend" to describe the intimate and trusting relationship between themselves and their good friends.
