In his early years, Chen Shidao married Guo Shu's daughter. Forced to make a living, his wife and daughter eat at their father-in-law's house. A 16-year-old Ceng Gong teacher. At that time, the court used Wang Anshi's Confucian classics theory to recruit talents. Chen Shidao didn't think so and didn't take the exam. In the fourth year of Yuan Dynasty, Ceng Gong was ordered to study Korean history and recommend Chen Shidao as his family, but he failed because of his untidy clothes. Dr. Tai Xue recommended Chen Shidao as a student. He refused. At that time, the ruling minister Zhang Dun asked Qin Guan to visit him, and asked Chen Shidao to visit him and draft a proposal. However, he replied, "If you don't give your life as a priest, you won't find it in the maharaja." Reject the audience.
In two years, Su Shi, Fu and Sun Jue, then a bachelor of Hanlin, recommended him as a professor of Xuzhou Chinese studies. Four years later, Su Shi was appointed as the secretariat of Hangzhou. He passed by Nanjing, where Chen Shidao saw him off. He left without permission and was illegally fired. Soon he was reinstated and transferred to Yingzhou as a professor. At that time, Su Shi was appointed as the secretariat of Yingzhou, hoping to accept him as an apprentice. Chen Shidao politely declined, saying, "This taste has always been very fragrant, which is a respect for Zeng Nanfeng." However, Su Shi didn't mind and still guided him. During Yuan Shao's reign, he was demoted to Su Shi's puppet by the court. He comes from a poor family, but he is still good at writing and wants to pass on his poems to future generations. Chen Shidao's literary achievements mainly lie in his poetry creation. He himself said, "There is no poetic method at the beginning of this poem." After reading Huang Tingjian's poems, he couldn't put it down. He burned past poems together and learned from Huang. The two of them emphasized each other. Huang Tingjian, Huang Tingjian and Huang Tingjian are regarded as "three cases" in Jiangxi Poetry School. In fact, I just studied Huang Tingjian's poetic style for a while, and later found that Huang Tingjian was "unexpected, unexpected", so I devoted myself to learning from Du Fu. Huang Tingjian also admired his achievements in studying Du Fu. He once told Wang Yun that Chen Shidao "knew the key of the ancients in his works, and his poems were so deeply imprinted in Lao Du's syntax that today's poets are different". Fang Hui's Collection of Houshan has the theory of "three ancestors", that is, Du Fu is the ancestor, Huang Tingjian and Chen. Fang Hui added: "Lao Du was the highest in the Tang Dynasty, and Huang and Chen were the highest in the Song Dynasty. Generally speaking, Chen Shidao's poems are influenced by Huang Tingjian, and "every word has no source". However, his knowledge is not as good as Huang Tingjian's, and he has to "learn from the east and make up for the west", which inevitably leads to some fatigue. In Du Fu's study, only formal rules are emphasized. Although the forms are similar, they often lack the deep and vigorous power of Du Fu. He successfully learned five or seven poems by Du Fu, such as "He Tuo's headlights at the end of the year are not equal to 0. "Dreams are meaningless in the troubles of half a life. Short hair turns white and faded face turns red. My song and dance are the same. " ; "There are rain bugs in the broken wall, and there are no monks and writers in the old house. I still want to go out and talk and laugh, but I don't think I will go back to my temple to chase the dust. Wind spider webs are spread from three sides, and these two kinds of yam are used by thunder bees. I have missed the spring appointment with my neighbors many times and have not blossomed so far. " . The former is reflected in his efforts to follow the syntax of Du Fu's poems, while the latter is similar to Du Fu in melody. His five ancient poems are difficult to describe and need to make sentences independently, but the difficult part has not broken the habit of Jiangxi School. He also has some simple and sincere poems, such as "I am ecstatic and my tears are gone"; What's the use of "fame? Don't worry too much. " . In the latter poem, he exhorted his uncle, and Fang Hui commented that he was "a person who imitated Lao Du's vivid style, thin and affectionate." . His poems are also leisurely and interesting, such as "books are easy to read and guests are not waiting." ; There are also some beautiful and romantic ones, such as: "The spring breeze always closes the alley gracefully, and the name of the brothel is wrong. I won't hesitate to take a look at the curtains in case your eyes can't see clearly. " Unfortunately, this situation is rare. It is said that he studies poetry hard. When he usually goes out to think about poetry, he quickly goes back to the quilt and lies down. Poetry is the beginning. Sometimes moaning is getting tired every day, and people's voices can be heard in bad taste, so Huang Tingjian called it "a sentence to find Chen Wuji behind closed doors". This serious creative attitude is worthy of recognition, but his poems are not deep enough and sometimes difficult.
In his own words, Chen Shidao said, "I can't communicate with others in other languages. I just said in my own words that I will not lose the Qin Dynasty. " . But few of his existing works are brilliant, which is not as good as his own evaluation. His prose is more successful. Ji Yun was rated as "as simple and rigorous as Li Ao and Sun Qiao".
Chen Shidao has the General Catalogue of Sikuquanshu, in which "Poetry should be clumsy but not flashy, plain but not flashy, coarse but not light, quiet but not vulgar". This is still in line with Huang Tingjian's proposition. He also said: "People who write well write surprisingly well, and this river flows down like this. In the valley, the wind blows, the matter stirs, and then the world changes. " Unfortunately, his creative practice does not conform to his own theory. Because Su Shi, Huang Tingjian and Qin Guan were dissatisfied with the book, Houshan's poetics thought that "the language without a teacher" was too rigid. But there are events after Chen Shidao's death in the book, which should be supplemented by later generations.
