Yuelu Academy couplets
There are many couplets in the lecture hall of Yuelu Academy. For example, if a worker wants to do a good job, he must sharpen his tools first; Diligence is good at diligence, but not good at leisure. This couplet is the interpretation of learning by the Analects of Confucius and Han Yu. The first part evolved from the Analects of Confucius and Wei Linggong that "if a worker wants to do a good job, he must sharpen his tools first", and the second part comes from the lack of diligence and pleasure; Everything I have done is thought and destruction. "
Another example is: judging right and wrong is for yourself, listening to people's reputation, gains and losses are numbers, looking forward to the peak of Yuelu Mountain, the bright moon and the breeze, and Tai Chi can be leisurely; How to repay the kindness of relatives, how to build people's lives, how to spread the sage's way, how to get on the stage of He Xi, how to balance the clouds and how to return to Sven. This is also the motto of ancient scholars about personal cultivation, which is intended to warn students and scholars to establish a positive attitude towards life.
At the entrance of the school's lecture hall, there is a couplet written on the left: learning through nine streams, meeting the sea of humanities and law here; Show the crown of Sanxiang and see the sages and famous mountains. From the couplets, we can see Zuo's heroic self-confidence and infinite praise for Yuelu Academy.
