Wei Zhuang, a poet in the late Tang Dynasty, discovered the former site of the thatched cottage and rebuilt it to preserve it. It was repaired and expanded in the Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Chengdu, referred to as Rongcheng and Jincheng for short, is the capital of Sichuan Province, the only sub-provincial city in southwest China, a mega-city, an important national high-tech industrial base, commercial logistics center and comprehensive transportation hub, and an important central city in western China.
