Yesterday, I was in the same boat on the Chu River, but now I am on the balcony of a drunken man.

This poem was written by Bai Juyi to send Wu Andao away. Wu Andao is Bai Juyi's friend, and they visited the Chu River by boat together. In this poem, Bai Juyi expresses his feelings and thoughts about Wu Andao, and expresses the depth of friendship and the pain of parting.

Bai Juyi's life
Bai Juyi (772-846), a poet, writer, politician and official in the Tang Dynasty, was named Lotte. His poems are flowery and deeply rooted in the hearts of the people, and he is one of the representatives of Tang poetry. He was born in a noble family in Luoyang, Henan Province, and showed his talent as a teenager. Emperor Xuanzong once praised him as a "literary wizard" and later became an official in Yucheng, Shandong, Jiangsu, Hunan and other places.
He wrote a lot of works in his life, and even reached more than 1, poems, which was called "Poet Fairy" by later generations. His representative works include Song of Eternal Sorrow, Pipa Journey, and Farewell to the Ancient Plain Grass. He was also honored as "Bai Shixian" by later generations because of his achievements in literature and glory in officialdom.
