Hunan province is located in the south of the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Most of the area is south of Dongting Lake, hence the name Hunan.
Because the Xiangjiang River in Hunan runs through the north and south of the province, it is called Xiang for short.
In addition, it is said that in the past, more hibiscus was planted in Xiangjiang River Basin, and TanYongzhi, a poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote the poem "Autumn wind is the land of Li Furong", so Hunan is also called "the land of hibiscus".
