Speaking of which, I don't know if you think that Bian Xiao's view today is different from the past. "Where to Talk about the Red Chamber" never publishes articles that have nothing to do with a dream of red mansions. Are you going to write an article as a travel note today? Not exactly. There is a "Grand View Garden" in Niushou Mountain, and the Buddha's eyes are considerable. The whole story "The Red Chamber" begins with Hulu Temple and ends with the word "enlightenment". Xianglin Temple, known as the "Honglou Temple" in Nanjing, is called Tiejian Temple in the book. Therefore, the Buddhist culture and the Red Chamber culture in Nanjing are inseparable, and one can talk about the other. Today, we look at the relationship between Buddhist culture and red chamber culture from a tree in Niushou Mountain.
As shown in the picture, it is a grand view of Zen. Don't be attracted by the immortal Buddha statue in the middle. Look for three trees in this hall first. I'll give you a hint: you don't have to look for the first two trees, but you can't find the last one just by looking for trees. The grand view of Zen Buddhism has a dome to prove heaven and earth, and a lotus throne to read compassion. There are two trees on both sides of this throne, one is Youran and the other is Bodhi. Worry-free tree is the way for Sakyamuni's mother to return to her family before giving birth. On the way, she saw the carefree trees in the garden and gave birth to Prince Siddhartha of Gautama here. Sakyamuni Buddha blessed all beings and wished them happiness from suffering, so this tree was named Worry-Free Tree.
Siddhartha Gautama, the young prince, resolutely gave up the throne and became a monk in order to save the suffering of all beings. After six years of asceticism, he failed to become a Buddha. Finally, I meditated under the bodhi tree for seven days and seven nights before becoming a Buddha. Therefore, in the grand view of Zen Buddhism, a piece of black sand under the bodhi tree symbolizes endless suffering, and a piece of white sand symbolizes clarity and purity after an epiphany.
Then the problem is coming. Where is the third tree? That is the mysterious Miluo double tree. Please look up until the direction of the dome, above the nirvana scene of Sakyamuni, is a dome like a bird's nest. And this dome is composed of branches and leaves of Miluo double trees. According to legend, Sakyamuni was born under two trees. The third tree that is the hardest to find is just outside the Zen realm. Bian Xiao found the Zen in A Dream of Red Mansions on this third tree.
When you mention Zen in A Dream of Red Mansions, you may think of Miaoyu, but the assertion that "the sky is not necessarily empty" tells us that Miaoyu is a monk, but his mind is not completely clear, and he still loves the world of mortals and fails to fully realize it. As for the enlightenment in A Dream of Red Mansions, Bian Xiao first thought of Baoyu's two sons when he meditated.
It was Baochai's and You's birthdays, and the Lady Dowager decided to celebrate Baochai's birthday and let Baochai star in a play. Baochai abandoned the lively drama and only ordered a little crimson lip: naked stripes come and go without care, where can I ask for them? A cigarette wrapped in a thick rain is a thread. Baoyu didn't understand it at first, but it was wonderful. It happened that Xiangyun and Daiyu had a fight because of the actors. Baoyu tried to persuade Daiyu, but Daiyu wouldn't listen. Xiangyun didn't believe him. Both of them have their own reasons, but they have brought trouble to Baoyu.
The two most important women in his life are ignoring him at the moment, and Baoyu's heart is infinite, and he also realizes it. After enlightenment, he wrote a poem: you prove me, your heart proves your meaning, there is no cloud evidence, and you are based on your feelings. The general idea is: Only when love is extinct and there is no need to prove it, can we talk about complete enlightenment. Everything is empty and based on the environment. So Baoyu seems to see through everything in the Grand View Garden at this time and wants to pull away. Like Siddhartha Gautama, he was born clean.
Daiyu couldn't help laughing when she learned that: "The most expensive treasure, the strongest jade, how much are you worth?" Why did Daiyu ask this question? Because the real "Baoyu" is the most expensive and sturdy thing, but Baoyu may not have these two qualities. The name is just a code name, and it has nothing to do with people. Just as this stopped Baoyu, Baochai chased another allusion: It is said that the five ancestors wanted to be legal heirs, so that disciples and monks gave each other a piece. The magic show on the throne said,' I am a bodhi tree, and my heart is like a mirror. I always wipe it so that there is no dust. Huineng was cooking in the kitchen at that time. Hearing this, he said,' Beauty is beauty, but it is gone. Because I said to myself:' Bodhi is not a tree, nor is a mirror a platform. There is nothing, so where is the dust? "Five ancestors will inherit his mantle.
And Baoyu really gave up meditation after hearing this. Why? Bodhi has no trees, the mirror is not a stage, and Baoyu is not a "Baoyu". With Baoyu's current understanding, it is impossible to understand these levels. How dare he meditate if he is superficial? Moreover, Baochai and Daiyu are many times smarter than him, and neither girl has realized it yet. How dare Baoyu say? So Baoyu smiled and the matter passed. But the two sons mentioned by Chai Dai have a lot to study, which is the wonderful scenery of Buddhism.
Just like the Miluo Twin Trees we just mentioned, the dome, just like the universe, has boundless Buddha nature and cosmic life. But is it tangible? Bodhi, Silla and Worry-Free Tree are tangible, but the Buddhism symbolized by these three trees is intangible. If the goal of understanding Buddhism is to find a "foothold", it is that the method is wrong and everything is empty. How can there be a "foothold"?
Baoyu realized at this time, because he still couldn't let go. There is no hard stone with talent to fill the sky, because a heart to travel to a gentle and rich country has come to the world. Now he is playing in the daughter country of the Grand View Garden, and all the girls who gather the aura of heaven and earth are with him. How could he possibly realize that? If you can't let go, you can't reach the ethereal spirit of Buddhism and you can't understand Buddhism. It was not until the Jia family was ruined and the building collapsed that Baoyu realized that all this wealth and splendor was actually a dream and he was able to convert.
According to Bian Xiao, you don't have to convert to Buddhism to get a glimpse. Buddhism is a study of mind, and only by purifying the heart can we get Buddhism. If you want to purify your soul more and more, you must first put aside the secular world, visit Niushou Mountain, enjoy tea for half a day, and fast for one day, and lament the wonders of Buddhism. The culture of the Red Chamber is wonderful.
