1. My heart follows the bright moon to Hu Tian.
"Spring Thoughts" - Tang Dynasty: Huangfu Ran
The oriole crows and the swallow whispers to announce the new year, and thousands of dragons pile up on the road in Mayi. I live in Hanyuan, next to the city, and my heart follows the bright moon to Hu Tian.
The brocade in the machine talks about eternal regret, while the flowers on the branches laugh and sleep alone upstairs. In order to ask Yuan Rong Dou's chariots and horses when they will return to Zile Yanran.
Translation: Yingge Yanyu predicted that the New Year is approaching, and Longdui in Mayi is a frontier thousands of miles away. He lives in the capital, next to the palaces and gardens of the Han Dynasty, and his heart follows the bright moon to Hu Tian on the border. The brocade palindrome tells of the longing and regret, and the flower branches upstairs tease me for still sleeping alone. May I ask when your commander, the chariot general Dou Xian, will return to the court to carve stones on Yanran Mountain?
2. It is not enough to cherish the clothes stained, but it is true to the wishes.
"Returning to the Garden and Living in the Fields·Part 3" - Wei and Jin Dynasties: Tao Yuanming
At the foot of the southern mountain where beans are planted, the grass is full of bean sprouts and there are few bean sprouts. I wake up in the morning to sort out the wasteland and filth, and return with a hoe in the moonlight.
The road is narrow, the grass and trees are long, and the evening dew touches my clothes. It's not enough to regret the stain on your clothes, but your wishes are fulfilled.
Translation: I plant beans at the foot of Nanshan Mountain. The weeds are lush and the bean sprouts are sparse. Get up early in the morning and go to the fields to weed weeds, and return home with a hoe under the moonlight at nightfall. The narrow mountain path was overgrown with vegetation, and my clothes were wet with night dew. It's not a pity that my clothes got wet, I just hope it doesn't go against my intention to return to the fields.
3. There is little inclination to suit the vulgar world, and one’s nature is to love hills and mountains.
"Returning to the Garden and Living in the Fields·Part 1" - Wei and Jin Dynasties: Tao Yuanming
There is no popular charm, and the nature loves hills and mountains. I accidentally fell into the dust net and passed away for thirty years.
The tame birds miss the old forest, and the fish in the pond miss their old abyss. Open up the wilderness in the south, stay humble and return to the garden.
Translation: I have not followed vulgar trends since I was young. My nature is to love nature. I accidentally fell into the trap of official career, and in the blink of an eye I had been away from my hometown for more than ten years. The bird in the cage often longs for the mountains and forests of the past, and the fish in the pond yearns for the abyss of the past. I would like to open up wasteland in the southern wilderness and maintain my simplicity and return to farming.
4. The heart flies away with the wild goose.
"Send Zhang Wu from Lanshan Mountain in Autumn/Send Zhang Zirong from Xian Mountain on September 9th" - Tang Dynasty: Meng Haoran
In the white clouds of Beishan Mountain, the hermit feels happy. Looking at each other and trying to climb high, our hearts will fly away with the wild geese.
Sorrow arises in the dusk, and happiness comes in the autumn. Sometimes I see people returning to the village, crossing the sand to rest.
The trees on the horizon are like shepherd's purses, and the islands on the riverside are like the moon. Why should I bring you wine to get drunk on the Double Ninth Festival?
Translation: Facing the undulating white clouds on the northern mountain ridge, I, a hermit, can taste the joy myself. I tried to climb high mountains just to see far away, but my mood had already flown away with the swan geese. Sadness is often the emotion caused by dusk, and interest is often caused by the atmosphere of autumn.
On the mountain, I often see people returning to the village, walking across the beach and sitting on the ferry to rest and relax. From a distance, the woods on the horizon look like shepherd's purse, and the sandbar overlooking the river looks like a crescent moon. When can you bring wine here? Let’s drink and get drunk during the Double Ninth Festival.
