"The beautiful land in the south of the Yangtze River, the imperial state of Jinling" is a poem describing Nanjing. This poem comes from "The Song of Entering the Dynasty" by Xie Tiao of the Southern and Northern Dynasties. This poem depicts the splendor and prosperity of the imperial capital Jinling (today's Nanjing) and the enterprising spirit of pursuing fame. It is both an ode and a magnificent picture.
"Entering the Dynasty Song" belongs to the "Advocating Songs and Ci" among the Yuefu poems, and the "Guangchug Ci" are mostly military songs and palace banquets, singing praises of virtues, and there are few excellent works. Xie Tiao's poem describes the atmosphere of the imperial capital. Although it does not fall into the trap of "praising the virtues of the vassal", its style is extraordinary. The momentum is high and open, the language is bright, and the couplets are neat. It reflects the positive and enterprising spirit of the young poet. In the "Yuefu" volume 28 of "Selected Works", this is the only one selected among the ten "Drumming Songs", which can be said to be very discerning.
