Appreciation of Yuan Haowen's poem Yi Ke

Yuan Haowen was the most accomplished poet in Jin Dynasty. His quatrains praised Du Fu and Su Shi with sincere feelings and vigorous style. Yuan Haowen is a descendant of Tuoba family in Northern Wei Dynasty. He once served as foreign minister in Shangshu province, and Jin died as an official. His style is particularly gloomy. Guest: A solitary lamp in the snow house has eyes on the way home.

This is a poem written by the poet in his later years, which expresses his longing for homesickness. The first sentence renders the loneliness of a guest from a cold environment. Originally, he was out of town, alone and lonely. It happened that on a snowy night in a foreign country, he was accompanied by a blue light, so he couldn't sleep alone, and he was even more lonely and cold. It is this lonely state of mind that leads the poet home. The second sentence is "seeing the way home in his eyes"

The last two sentences, follow the illusory thoughts and get close to home from space. "Children in the mountains should respect each other as guests", as if seeing their children climbing high on the mountain and overlooking it; "I got nothing in early October", as if I heard them wondering: Can my father go home in early October? Starting from my hometown, I wrote about the children's longing to see their father go home, which reflected the poet's deep yearning for his relatives in his hometown.

In this poem, the author shows his deep love for his children with simple language and sincere feelings from the perspective of "being guest".
