Night thoughts on terraced towers
A harp sighs all night, with the sadness of wind and rain on its strings.
There is a solitary lamp, a trumpet sound, and on the other side of the platform tower, the moon sets.
The fragrant grass has changed and withered, but I still hope my old friend will come back.
Now that the wild goose has flown south, I have no more messengers to send to him.
Night Thoughts on the Tower is a five-character poem by Wei Zhuang, a poet in the Tang Dynasty. This is a poem that I miss my hometown in a foreign country. The title of the poem is Night Thinking, but it doesn't start with thinking. It's about what you saw and heard in the autumn night, and the loneliness and sadness of living in a foreign land. In the second half of the poem, the content of "thinking" is written: the grass is dusk, the youth is gone, the old friend doesn't come, and homesickness is hard to send. Finally, in the autumn festival, it is even more worrying. This poem expresses a helpless hatred. The whole poem is in one go, with sincere feelings, clear grievances and touching feelings.
