A Brief Introduction to the Book of Flowers Born by Pen

Qiu Xinru, a native of Huai 'an, Jiangsu Province, was a female writer and calligrapher during the reign of Qing Daoguang and Xianfeng. He is good at poetry and calligraphy, and is the author of Longtan Ci "Pen gives birth to flowers".

There is no conclusion about Qiu Xinru's date of birth and death in academic circles. Bao Zhenpei scholars believe that his date of birth is the tenth year of Jiaqing (1805) and his date of death is after 1872. Scholars of Sheng Zhimei believe that he was born in 1798 and died in 1857 to 1873. Qiu Xinru was born in a poor scholarly family in Huai 'an. He studied poetry and songs from an early age and was filial to his mother. In order to "talk about me and have a good time with Xuan Shi in Beitang", as early as the year of Good Family, she began to write the first five chapters of Pen gives birth to flowers. Later, he married a Confucian scholar named Qingshuitan (now Qingshuitang, Qinghe District, Huaiyin City) and still lived in Huai 'an Buzhai, located at the east gate. Because his family had two doors, it was called "the two-door Zhang family" at that time.

Qiu Xinru's mother-in-law and mother-in-law's family circumstances are not good. Later, her aunt (formerly referred to as in-laws) and her husband died one after another, and the family became increasingly embarrassed and it was difficult to make a living. So, she had to live with her only old mother again, and since then, the mother and daughter have lived alone, and the situation is very miserable. As she herself said, "When there are few scenery on the solstice in winter, people have good taste when they are poor." Under the unbearable pressure of life, on the one hand, she lived a poor life of "shocking rice, being shy, not worrying, getting sick"; On the one hand, continue to write books. In the bitter years of the world, she spent about 30 years before and after, and condensed this * * * eight-volume 32-time, nearly1200,000 words with sweat and tears. On the day of the book's completion, Qiu Xinru clearly expressed his creative intention and comments on readers with the poem "Invite people to be appreciated by boudoir, and make careful comments in leisure".

In July of the seventh year of Xianfeng (1857), Flowers Born by Pen was published for the first time, and Qiu Xinru's cousin Chen Tongxun prefaced it: "Aunt is filial, and she should entertain Beitang with calligraphy." In the 11th year of Tongzhi (1872), when the second edition of Pen Born Flowers was published in August, Ms. Tanghu wrote in the preface: "Mrs. Qiu, the mother of Zhang, was born in Confucian scholars and lived in her hometown. Learn to preach Wei Shuo (1), and you can study when you are young; Teach soldiers Wenxuan II, and still set up accounts. " Although these comments are pertinent and realistic, they may not understand the author's painstaking creation. In fact, "Flowers Born by Pen" is not a vulgar ballad, but a literary work with the theme of reflecting the low status and misfortune of women in China feudal society. Qiu Xinru, with his bitter and indignant style, poured out his grief for the humiliated women under the feudal system, and also died with hatred and buried his bones.

(2) Qiu Xinru's Pen Born Flowers is a novel written by another woman writer after Rain Flower in the Sky and Rebirth. The book is magnificent in structure, full of twists and turns, and it is a rare masterpiece of Quyi in the history of China literature.

Creative motivation: It is hard to accept that Liu Yanyu, who has been secretly married for life in Rebirth, was named Mrs. Xiao Jie, and Meng Lijun pretended to be a new word because she was not filial to her father.

Qiu Xinru's "Flowers Born by Pen" is also unique in literary and artistic expression and has high attainments. Seemingly narrative, but different from the mediocre narrative style; Similar to Zhang Hui's novels, but different from romance. It belongs to a dramatic work, but it does not take the form of a script. In writing, the author skillfully integrates poetry, words, speaking and singing, and his style is patchy and easy to use. The works describe the inner world and mental outlook of the characters delicately and profoundly; Moreover, the descriptions of all kinds of scenery are full of colors, dancing and spectacular. His beautiful brushwork and literary talent are second to none in the works of tanci.

"Pen gives birth to flowers" can become one of the popular literary forms among the people because of its strong ideological content. The author not only focuses on the lowest level of feudal society, truly reflects the sufferings and misfortunes of folk women, but also reveals the debauchery and shamelessness of court nobles with historical clues, which profoundly and powerfully shows that even aristocratic families in aristocratic families will be suppressed and destroyed by feudal ethics. The author thinks that women and men have the same talent. "It is better to have a girl like this than a man like this" and "You don't need to watch Nongzhang make a tile". This is her voice and protest from her works on behalf of thousands of women in Qian Qian. Of course, "Flowers Born by Pen" also has its dross, for example, the book clearly maintains the feudal ethics of women's "three obedience and four virtues". There is no criticism or resistance to the unreasonable polygamy. These are inseparable from the limitations of the times and the conservatism of the author's thoughts.
