One day, Zhu Yuanzhang took his fourth son Judy and grandson Zhu Jun to watch a horse race. He saw the horse galloping, and the wind blew on its hooves. Occasionally, he got a couplet: "The wind blows a thousand lines of ponytails", and asked a son and a grandson to make couplets respectively. Zhu Yun took the lead and said, "Rain hits the wool like a blanket." . After hearing this, Mao thought the dialogue was too weak, without momentum and displeasure. He asked his son if he was right, and Judy said, "Rizhao Longlin has ten thousand gold points." . Mao was very happy and nodded in praise.
One day, Zhu Yuanzhang traveled incognito and met a farmer selling lotus roots on the way. He was moved by this scene. He used five words to say "the west arm bends" and asked the farmer to make a couplet. The farmer looked at the lotus root hole and replied, "seven orifices are better than a dead heart." The farmer responded so quickly and neatly that Zhu Yuanzhang was very happy and named it "Wine Festival" (official name).
One day, Zhu Yuanzhang came to a teahouse incognito and chatted with a scholar who was drinking tea. He learned that the scholar's ancestral home was in Chongqing, so he wrote a couplet with a place name: "A thousand miles is the most important thing, and heavy water is the most important mountain in Chongqing." Scholars know that this is an embedded place name. He took the couplet and said, "One person is big, and a big country is king." Zhu Yuanzhang appreciated it very much after listening.
On another occasion, Zhu Yuanzhang came to a small town hotel to drink incognito. He saw that the shop was small and there were no delicious appetizers. There are three cups and five lights in the small hotel, and there is nothing. The shopkeeper casually said to the first couplet, "Daming Kingdom is unified, regardless of north and south." Zhu Yuanzhang was overjoyed and wanted to give him an official position, which was politely declined by the shopkeeper.
When Zhu Yuanzhang was playing chess with Prime Minister Liu Bowen, he was in a particularly good mood. Occasionally, he made a couplet saying that "the sky is a chessboard star, and the sun and the moon win glory" and asked Liu Bowen to make a couplet. Liu slightly thought about it and said, "Lei Nai is fighting drums and electric flags, and the situation is fighting." After listening to Zhu Yuanzhang, he felt that the two of them expressed their opinions and felt carefree.
