Losing Qilian Mountain makes my six animals unhappy; Losing my mountain made me get married without color.

It means: how can our livestock breed without us in Qilian Mountain? The loss of our Yanzhishan made our women blush.

This is a Xiongnu folk song.

Extended data

Xiongnu is one of the ethnic minorities who lived in Qinghai earlier. Because the Huns didn't create their own characters, the once popular folk songs can only be passed down by word of mouth, and few of them have been preserved through Chinese translation. This is a current political folk song that truly reflects the political and historical situation of Xiongnu.

At the beginning of this poem, there is not much pen and ink to describe how rich the products of Rouge Mountain are and how important it is to the Huns militarily. However, the seemingly trivial matter of "no distinction between women and men" actually shows how much the fall of Yanqi Mountain has affected the life of Huns and played a role in understanding the situation.

As a nomadic people, the most precious thing for Huns is the water and grass fields that can help livestock. Both Yan Zhi and Qilian have beautiful water plants and hills. Once lost, there are not a few six animals, and its hardships can be imagined.

This ballad outlines the hard life of the Xiongnu people who lost their territory with thick lines. Two "self-lost" suddenly appear and overlap, which shows that their anger is gradually strengthening.
