The verses about the red maple leaves are as follows:
1. "Stop and sit in the maple forest at night, the frost leaves are as red as the February flowers." - "Mountain Travel" by Du Mu of the Tang Dynasty
Interpretation: Stop the carriage to enjoy the evening view of the late autumn maple forest. The gorgeous sunset glow and the red maple leaves complement each other. The fiery red maple leaves are redder than the February flowers in Jiangnan.
Appreciation: Mountain roads, people, white clouds, and red leaves show a beautiful maple forest in late autumn. "Stop and sit in the maple forest at night, the frost leaves are as red as the February flowers", which expresses the beauty of the maple forest frost leaves and the endless pleasure of admiring the love, and has become a popular saying.
2. "The red maple leaves thousands of leaves beside the green clouds, and the yellow flowers with thousands of spots are under the secluded rocks." - Song Dynasty Zhang Luan's "Traveling on the Shasha·Autumn into the Cloud Mountain"
Interpretation: Danfeng Like brocade, thousands of mountains are like embroidery, and the fiery red maple leaves, dyed in layers, follow the mountains and spread to the side of the blue clouds. Deep in the mountains and rocks. Countless chrysanthemums, sprinkled little by little.
Appreciation: These are two exquisite couplets. The first sentence, "Danfeng", also known as frost leaves and red leaves. It is said that the maple leaves turn red due to frost and are as bright as red, so they are called "red maples". "Ten thousand leaves" means there are so many maple leaves. The four-character dot "Danfeng Ten Thousand Leaves" brings out the scene of the forest dyeing the mountains red. "Biyun", blue-white clouds.
The word "bian" at the end of the sentence is a word that cannot be ignored. The location of Danfeng and the height of the mountain are all pointed out by this word. It shows that the fiery red maple leaves are stacked in layers, climbing up the mountain, and spreading to the side of the blue clouds, depicting the beautiful scenery of blue clouds and red leaves, mountain colors and blue sky, red maples like brocade, and thousands of mountains like embroidery.
3. "The cold red leaves are under the pond in autumn, and they are like a boat with the moving clouds." - Song Dynasty Jiang Kui's "Recalling Wangsun Fanyang Peng's Xiaolou"
Interpretation: The fiery red maple leaves fall into the autumn pond. I often take a boat and wander around with the floating clouds.
Appreciation: The sentence begins with a description of the scene, and the order of the verses is pointed out. Cold red, the cover refers to maple leaves. The maple leaves after the frost are all crimson, and in the chilling autumn wind, they are falling into the autumn pond one by one. Use "cold red" to describe the floating maple leaves, and suddenly a cold atmosphere envelopes the whole word.
The syntax of the second sentence "Chang and Xingyun are in the same boat" is quite novel. Jiang Kui was not an official all his life and wandered around with unpredictable whereabouts. It is very appropriate to use "Wandering Clouds" to symbolize his life experience. Here he does not directly say that the body is like moving clouds, but rather says that "the long and moving clouds form a boat", which is not out of the ordinary.
