——Tang··Li Bai Comments
①Early departure: Set off early. Fa: set off, set off. Baidi City: Its former site is on Baidi Mountain in Fengjie County, Chongqing City. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Gongsun Shu occupied the place and called himself Baidi, so it was called Baidi City. The Yangtze River flows under the city and is where the Yangtze River enters the Three Gorges. This poem was written by the poet when he met the amnesty on his way to Yelang's exile and returned to Jiangling by boat from Baidi City.
②Chao Ci: Farewell in the morning. Chao: morning, early morning; Farewell: farewell, farewell.
③Caiyunjian: Because Baidi City is located on Baidi Mountain and has a towering terrain, it is often shrouded in clouds. And looking up from the river boat, it seems to be towering into the clouds.
④Jiangling: Today’s Jiangling County, Hubei Province. In ancient times, it was said that Jiangling was 1,200 miles away from Baidi City, but it was actually about 600 miles away.
⑤ Return in one day: An ancient book says, "Sometimes the White Emperor will arrive in the morning and arrive in Jiangling in the evening." The speed of the boat illustrates the urgency of the river. Return: Return, return.
⑥Ape sound: The sound of ape calling.
⑦ Can’t stop crying: The sound of chirping doesn’t stop.
⑧Qingzhou: A light boat.
⑨ Ten Thousand Mountains: Mountains layered upon layers, describing many mountains. Interpretation and translation
In the morning, I said goodbye to Baidi City shrouded in colorful clouds.
In one day, I returned to Jiangling, thousands of miles away.
Only the sound of apes crowing continuously on both sides of the bank was heard.
The brisk boat had already sailed across the river among the mountains. Appreciation
In the spring of 758, Li Bai was implicated in participating in the Yongwang Li Lin shogunate affairs and was exiled to Yelang (now western Guizhou Province). He was pardoned when he traveled to Baidi City. The poet wrote this poem on his way back to Gangneung to express his joyful mood.
The three characters "Caiyunjian" in the first sentence describe the high terrain of Baidi City, paving the way for the fast speed of boating along the current. The second sentence, "thousands of miles" and "one day", describes the speed of the ship and also reveals the author's joy after encountering the pardon.
The last two sentences describe the sound of apes first, and then the boat. The cries of apes on both sides of the bank are still in my ears, but the boat sails briskly across the river amid mountains and ridges. The word "ji" is used to combine "can't hold back" and "crossing thousands of mountains". The sound of apes on both sides of the strait cleverly highlights the brisk movement of the boat.
The whole poem focuses on "fastness". The scenery written is fresh and bright, and the emotions expressed are joyful and brisk, which can't help but make people feel happy. Homework question
The word "fast" is expressed in many places in the poem. Can you find out which places it is? Please write it down in the comments below to start a discussion with netizens. Interesting Reading
The origin of "Baidi City"
Regarding the "Baidi City" in poetry, this place existed in history, and it is still a famous scenic spot in the Three Gorges of the Yangtze River.
"Baidi City" comes from a real historical event. At the end of the Western Han Dynasty, China was in the process of changing dynasties. The old dynasty was overthrown, and the new dynasty had not yet been established. There was a general named Gongsun Shu who was guarding the southwest region at that time.
Legend has it that one day, Gongsun Shu had a dream in which someone said to him: "You can be emperor for twelve years." When he woke up, he felt very strange. The next morning, when Gongsun Shu was walking in the garden, he saw a stream of white gas rising from the well in the garden, rising into the sky like a white dragon. Gongsun Shu thought this was a sign that he would ascend the throne and become emperor. So Gongsun Shu held a ceremony, proclaimed himself the emperor, and called himself Baidi. He built a city and named it "Baidi City".
Later, Liu Xiu, the founding emperor of the Eastern Han Dynasty, unified China. Liu Xiu's army attacked Gongsun Shu in a large scale. Gongsun Shu died in the rebellion.
When Gongsun Shu ruled the southwest region, society was relatively stable and was not affected by the war in the Central Plains. During his tenure as emperor, Gongsun Shu also developed agriculture and built water conservancy projects to benefit the local people.
Therefore, after Gongsun Shu died in the battle, the local people built the "Baidi Temple" in Baidi City to commemorate him.
