Song of Eternal Sorrow describes the love tragedy of Xuanzong and Yang Guifei in Tang Dynasty from love to parting to lovesickness. The theme of the poem is "Song of Eternal Sorrow", that is, the deep affection and endless regret of Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei for each other. The poem begins with "strong ink and heavy color", revealing the origin and development of their love and the tragic ending caused by the Anshi Rebellion.

Brief introduction of Bai Juyi:
Bai Juyi (772-846), whose name is Lotte, was named Xiangshan Jushi and Zuiyin, an outstanding realistic poet in the Tang Dynasty. He was born in Xinzheng, Henan, and his ancestral home is Taiyuan, Shanxi.
He participated in the political reform in his early years and cared about people's livelihood, but later he was relegated because of his frankness. His poetry is plain and popular in style, with extensive and profound contents, which reflects the contradictions and changes in Tang society and expresses sympathy for the people and the pursuit of ideals. Together with Yuan Zhen, he initiated the New Yuefu Movement, and advocated that poetry should take real events as the theme and be related to the times and society, which was called "Bai Yuan".
His representative works include Song of Eternal Sorrow, Pipa Journey, New Yuefu and so on. Among them, Song of Eternal Sorrow is the pinnacle of Bai Juyi's poetry creation and an immortal masterpiece in the history of China literature. In addition, he also compiled his own anthology "Bai Changqing Collection", which is an important contribution in the history of Tang literature.
