On November 25, 1950, Zhou Weizhi, then deputy director of the Art Bureau of the Ministry of Culture of China, read from the Xinhua News Agency's "People's Daily" that the Chinese People's Volunteer Army Artillery Company at that time An expedition poem "Defeating the Ambitious Wolf of American Imperialism" written by political instructor Ma Fuyao.
Infected by the heroic spirit, he developed a strong desire to create and quickly composed the music that day. At the same time, he changed "Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea" to "Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea", and took the last line of the poem "Defeat the Ambitious Wolf of U.S. Imperialism" as the title, and signed it "Volunteer Soldiers' Ci" and Zhou Weizhi's song. It was eventually renamed "Battle Hymn of the Chinese People's Volunteers".
On April 1, 1951, "People's Daily" once again recommended the song to the country under the title "Battle Hymn of the Chinese People's Volunteers". On April 21, the Chinese People's Federation to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea announced that the national anthem and the "Battle Hymn of the Chinese People's Volunteers" will be the basic songs for the National People's May Day Parade.
