However, what is important in life? Why should we judge what is important in life? If career is the most important, why? Family is still important, why? If doing good is the most important, why? The world seems to have no answer to this question. God is fair. He makes every year have the same time. The problem is how to calculate and how to use it. Is what we spend the most time doing now the most important thing in our lives?
In the Bible, I especially like Psalm 90. Not only can I recite it, but I can never get tired of reading it.
Psalm 90 is the work of Moses, probably the oldest poem. This poem specifically mentions the brevity of life and the truth of death. It is an indisputable fact that everyone will die. Some philosophers in ancient Greece discussed the problem of life, saw the wonder of the universe, and could not help thinking about the origin of the universe, and then thinking about the meaning and purpose of life. Man is limited, and God is eternal. This is also the theme of Psalm 90.
Moses mentioned in article 90 that he had three wishes in his life. This is what I want to share with my friends in the 20 10 new year.
First, live a full life.
"Please teach us how to count our days, so that we can gain a wise heart." (Section 12)
Old Moses prayed to God to teach him and his people how to count their days so that they could become wise people. Why do you need to "count"? Counting is dealing with a human fact-finite (there is no need to count in infinity). People use past figures as an evaluation to measure whether their limited resources are used well; Man's calculation of the future is a plan to measure how his limited resources are used in the most meaningful things and how to make it play its greatest role.
He who knows how to live like this is a wise man. A person's daily time is limited, and so is his energy, youth and intelligence in life, but many times we don't make specific plans for our limited resources. We are busy with life and other people's demands every day, and spend our time on endless entertainment, socializing, playing cards, shopping, eating, drinking and giving gifts. No wonder I feel that life is inefficient, meaningless and unfulfilled, which leads to numbness and depression. What we need is the wisdom to count our days.
A professor moved a box to the classroom in order to teach students to manage their time effectively. He put some big stones in the box first, because it was slow to update when he went out, and the box was full soon. The professor asked, "Can this box hold anything else?" "I can't." The students answered. The professor said, "Wrong." Then I put some smaller stones in, and then I asked, "Can I put other things in now?" This time the student seemed to understand, so he replied, "You can also pour the sand in."
"That's right." The professor told the students to bring sand to fill the gap in the box. Then he asked, "Can you put anything else on now?" One of the students said, "Just pour water." "That's right." The professor continued to ask, "Do you know what this experiment is about?" Some students replied: "The time of the day seems to be full. In fact, we can still make good use of other small gaps." The professor said, "Yes, but there is a more important truth here: in a limited space, if you need to enlarge stones and small stones, you must enlarge the stones first." If you fill the box with sand from the beginning, the big stone won't fit. "What this story tells us is that in the limited time of life, we must do important things first. If we are always dragged down by trivial things in life, we will have no time to do those really important things.
Second, live happily.
"Lord! How long do we have to wait? Go back and repent for your servant. Please fill us with your love as soon as possible and make us happy all our lives. Make us happy according to the days when you afflicted us and the years when we were in trouble. (section 13~ 15)
The joy Moses prayed for came from the love of God. It can be seen that this is absolutely different from the happy and healthy emotional life that most people think.
A few years ago, six British experts conducted a study on how to make you happier, and introduced 10 happiness secrets:
1, plant one.
2. Think about the five things you are most grateful for before going to bed every day.
3. Talk to the person you like for at least one hour every week.
4. Make a phone call to chat with a friend whom you haven't contacted for a long time and meet.
Do one thing that makes you happy every day and really enjoy the process.
6. Laugh at least once a day.
7. Do more exercise for half an hour at least three times a week.
8. Smile or say hello to strangers at least once a day.
9. halve the time spent in front of the computer and TV.
10, do a good deed for the people around you every day.
All these methods sound good, but they don't solve people's fundamental problems, such as what is the meaning of life, where to go after death, why life is in trouble, why people commit crimes, and how to get rid of these guilt. These problems can't be solved in a moment, and how to improve the lifestyle is also a temporary solution.
Moses asked for different joys, because God's love would solve all the basic problems in his life. This kind of happiness is lasting and lifelong. This means that happiness is not an emotional response, but a state of life.
Man's life feels safe because he knows the God who created and controlled his life, and knows that this God loves him and his life is in the right direction. There may be emotional changes on the road of life, but these will not shake the foundation of his life. More importantly, this joy has nothing to do with the environment and experience. The original meaning of 15 is "Please make us happy as long as you make us suffer" (KJV). This is Moses' prayer to God, hoping that they can live a happy life in difficult environment and rough encounters.
If we don't really know that our life is secure, we can't find true happiness. When many people talk about believing in and following Jesus, what they think is: "We will talk about faith later. Now I want to make money and have fun, but I can't trust Jesus. " So they try their best to find fun that can stimulate their emotions, and the world keeps inventing new gadgets to respond to this demand. The more results, the more vanity people have. how do you know Because our happiness is stimulated by external stimuli, when these stimuli are not entertainment but unsatisfactory things, we are prone to anger, anxiety, fear, discouragement and complaints. A survey a few years ago showed that only about half of the ethnic groups aged 8 to 12 were happy with the status quo, while less than half of the ethnic groups aged 16 to 34 were happy. This is not joy, because joy is a temperament revealed from the inside out, which is lifelong and cannot be taken away by the environment. A happy person doesn't giggle every day, but it can be seen from his handling of environment, fate and interpersonal relationship. This kind of person is tenacious, flexible, calm and gentle.
The Japanese scientist has been published and his works have been translated into many languages. What I heard recently was some experiments made by doctors in Israel.
1, words affect the air.
They suck in air from three places:
A) prison b) sports ground (at that time, the audience was very angry because of the performance of the players, so the venue was full of angry and cursing words from the audience) c) auditorium (the congregation just finished reading the poem collectively)
Researchers filter the air, remove bacteria, and then let volunteer students breathe the air. They don't tell students the source of air, but only ask students to write down their feelings and thoughts after inhaling air.
Students who breathe prison air: depression, pain and sadness.
Students who breathe the air on the playground: angry, depressed, bitter, nervous.
Students breathing air in the auditorium: hope, encouragement and joy.
The sooner life tastes God's love, the sooner it begins to live a happy life with connotation.
Third, live a wonderful life.
May your works be revealed to your servants and your glory to their children. May the glory of the Lord our God be ours. May you build the work in our hands; May you stand firm in the work in our hands. Section 16- 17
In the last two verses, Moses mentioned "the works of God", "the glory of God" (NIV) and "the glory of God" (NIV).
Moses expected him to experience God in human life. On the human side, Moses mentioned "servants", "their descendants", "us" and "the work done by our hands". Obviously, these words are closely related to services or services. In other words, Moses prayed that through his and his people's response to the deep call, they could constantly experience God's actions and see God's glory.
Why is our life so dull? Because we have never experienced God, why haven't we experienced God? Because we didn't serve God.
Many people believe that God just wants to live forever and comfortably in God, so every time we pray, we just pray for God's protection and hope that everything will be safe and smooth. We serve God, but we have never experienced it. Perhaps our so-called service has become a fixed form, only as a channel to make up for our conscience, and we are unwilling to pursue God's wishes more deeply or actively treat God's requirements for our lives. We must respond to his call. God has never chosen some people to be spectators. He wants us to live a wonderful life through life adventure!
Let Psalm 90 help us to seek a breakthrough in the new year! This also helps our life to have a complete meaning. The Bible says, "I can do everything by him who gives me strength". (Philippians 4: 13)
There is a short story about a middle-aged postman in a small village. Since the age of 20, he has traveled dozens of kilometers every day, sending sad and happy stories to residents' homes. Twenty years passed quickly. Although the postman likes the job, the road he knows is bare and dusty. "How long will this desolate road take?" Whenever he passes that road by bike, he always sighs like this. One day, he passed a flower shop on his way home after delivering the letter. Suddenly I had a brainwave: "Yes, this is it!" He went into the flower shop and bought a handful of wild flower seeds. From the next day, he took these seeds and scattered them on his way back and forth. After a while, I walked back and forth for 20 years on the desolate road, and actually opened small flowers of various colors; Summer flowers bloom in summer, autumn flowers bloom in autumn, and flowers bloom in four seasons, never stopping. Whistling on the road full of petals instead of dust, the postman riding a bicycle is naturally in high spirits.
Your life and mine are the same. You can do much more than what you are doing every day now. In addition to what you have to do, add a little thought and share your blessings from God with people around you. Soon, you will see flowers and fruits.
