Vernacular translation: the north wind is rustling, and the water is easy to cool. Once the strong go, they will never return. Killing the king of Qin is as dangerous as going to the Dragon Palace in the den of tigers, but our heroic spirit can even form a white flood.
Song of Yishui and Song of Crossing Yishui is a poem written by Jing Ke when Yan Taizi Dan went to Qin State to assassinate the king of Qin during the Warring States Period.
Literary appreciation:
There are only two sentences in this speech. At first glance, it is easy to understand and straightforward. Thoughtful, but profound, honest and quite artistic.
The whole poem imitates the technique of "Xing" in the Book of Songs, "Tell other things first, so as to arouse the words sung", which first rises with the west wind and Xiao Shui, and then attracts the lofty aspirations of the warriors, which is quite imposing.
The first sentence explains the time and place of the expedition. Whispering autumn wind, cold and easy water, are all natural scenery, and there is no emotion at all, but Jing Ke here has placed his heart on the scenery in front of him, which is full of feelings. The choice of onomatopoeic word "Shasha" and adjective "Leng" is very unique and wonderful.
