What are the characteristics of modern free verse?

1. First, get rid of the rigid and trite classical Chinese and add poems to the vernacular. In particular, we advocate using simple and friendly idioms close to the spoken language of the masses to replace the difficult cliches in classical Chinese, write down the social situation, and show sincere feelings and brand-new ideas.

2. Secondly, in terms of syllable rhythm, we should get rid of the rhyme and meter of old-style poems, abolish the rigid bondage of parallel prose and even allusions, and pay attention to the nature of music instead of sticking to rhyme (Kang's My Opinion on New Poetry). The syllables of poetry should be prioritized and cadenced according to the natural ups and downs of the poet's own emotions and the natural rhythm of the tone.

3. In addition, in style, I intend to pursue a kind of unrestrained free expression. I am not bound by the rules, and I pour out my heart without scruple. Poetry is neither branched nor rhymed, even if it is divided into sections, it is randomly arranged according to the content of the work, thus forming the main characteristics of the artistic form of free verse.
