The rules for using English quotation marks are:
(1) Direct expression means direct quotation. When a direct quotation exceeds four lines or contains more than 40 words, quotation marks are generally omitted and boldface type is used instead to clearly distinguish it from the rest of the article.
(2) Used to indicate the title of short publications, such as magazines, newspaper articles, short poems, short stories, and a chapter of an entire book.
In addition, quotation marks are divided into single quotation marks and double quotation marks. Single quotes are enclosed in double quotes, which looks the same as in Chinese.
Usage of double quotation marks: (1) Used to quote the title of a short article or poem (not some chapters of the book); (2) When a quotation is followed by a qualifying phrase, a comma is placed in the quotation .
