"Ambition" is a work by Wang Ji, a poet in the late Sui Dynasty and early Tang Dynasty. The original text is:
When Donggao looks forward to the dusk, he can't help but rely on him when he moves. The trees are all in autumn colors, and the mountains are only covered with the setting sun.
Herdsmen drive calves back, hunting horses return with poultry. We care about each other but don't know each other, and we sing long songs and cherish the flowers.
Translation:
In the evening, I stood in Donggao and looked into the distance. I was wandering and unsure where to turn. The woods were all dyed with autumn colors, and the mountains were covered with mountains. The remaining light of day.
The herdsmen drove the cattle back home, and the hunters returned home with many prey. Everyone was speechless and didn't know each other. I screamed and sang and really wanted to live in seclusion in the mountains!

Creative background:
After Wang Ji entered the Tang Dynasty, he served as secretary of the province and waited for the imperial edict to go to the province. Soon he resigned and returned to his hometown. In Zhenguan, he came out as Tai Lecheng and returned home. This poem was written when the poet resigned and lived in seclusion in Donggao (in today's Hejin, Shanxi).
About the author:
Wang Ji (about 589-644), courtesy name Wugong, alias Donggaozi, was born in Longmen County, Jiangzhou (Tonghua Town, Wanrong County, Shanxi Province). Poet of the early Tang Dynasty. At the beginning of Zhenguan, he returned to Hezhu after his illness and worked hard at farming on Donggao Mountain (today's Wuliu Scenic Area in Suzhou), calling himself "Donggaozi".
Simple and arrogant in nature, he is addicted to alcohol. He wrote his own "Biography of Mr. Wu Dou" and wrote "Wine Classic" and "Wine Book". His poems are close but not shallow, quality but not vulgar, sincere and forthright, open-minded and high-spirited, directly following the style of the Wei and Jin Dynasties. His landscape and pastoral poems are simple and natural, with rich artistic conception. He is recognized by later generations as the founder of five-character verse. He made important contributions to the creation of Tang poetry and plays a very important role in the history of Chinese poetry.
