Accompany Yao Shijun and inscribe Hui Master's room

Author: Meng Haoran

Bring the snowy plums to warm them up, and contain the smoke Liu Shangqing.

To read the boy's verse, you have to listen to the Dharma King Sutra.

Be able to reason and know that there is no self, and look at the void and be tired of the tangible.

The confused mind should be awakened, and the guest’s thoughts should be calm.

lái kuī tóng zǐ jì, dé tīng fǎ wáng jīng.

huì lǐ zhī wú wǒ, guān kōng yàn yǒu xíng.

mí xīn yīng jiào wù, kè sī wèi huáng níng.

Accompany Yao Shijun and inscribe "Hui Shangren's room" Translation: None

The Bodhisattva is often called a boy. One reason is that the Bodhisattva is the true son of Dharma King. The other reason is that he has no lustful thoughts and is like a boy in the world. Gatha: Also known as Jiatuo and Gatha, free translation of Gatha and Song. The form is the same as that of poetry. Generally, four sentences form a stanza.

② Dharma King: The Buddha and Dharma are at ease, and he is called Dharma King. "Lotus Sutra: Parables" says: I am the Dharma King, and I am at ease with the Dharma.

③No-self: I am a constant body and have the function of domination. However, the false combination of the five aggregates of the human body means that there is no permanent one self. Dharma arises from causes and conditions, and there is no permanent one self. Therefore, there is no self and there is no self.

④Contemplation of emptiness: This refers to the analysis of emptiness, observing and analyzing the five tones and other methods without focusing on them.

Accompanying Yao Shijun to inscribe Hui in the Master’s Room Appreciation:

The first couplet of this poem vividly depicts the elegant and cold early spring scenery with steady antithesis. The precise description makes the snowy plum blossoms, smoke and willows suddenly appear before our eyes. To get a glimpse of the boy's verse with the couplets, you have to listen to the Dharma King's Sutra and name the themes of visiting the temple. At the same time, he also expressed his admiration for Master Hui by saying that his holy life is like that of a child, and he has obtained the teachings of the Dharma King. The neck couplet describes the poet's feelings after listening to the verses. Once you understand Buddhist principles, you will understand the wonderful meaning of selflessness. Chapter 7 of "Guanzhi" says: "Because I have no wisdom, I have my own plan." Looking at it with wisdom, there really is no self. Wherever I am, look at the head, feet, and joints one by one, but you can't see me. Through the analysis of emptiness, we can leave the attachment to the self that is the five aggregates and naturally become dissatisfied with the tangible material body. After this understanding and observation, the poet expressed his expectation for enlightenment, but also showed a touch of embarrassment and melancholy because of the difficulty in thinking. Although he cannot completely leave the world and enter Buddhism, it still clearly shows the poet's yearning for the quiet Buddhism.

Anecdotes of Meng Haoran:

In the 16th year of Kaiyuan of Xuanzong (728), the 40-year-old poet Meng Haoran came to the capital Chang'an to take part in the Jinshi examination, but he failed. Needless to say, he was in an extremely depressed mood at this time. While he was living in seclusion in Xiangyang, Hubei, he worked hard on reading and writing. In the past 30 years, he really had a wealth of articles, and he was highly praised by the poet Wang Wei and the prime minister Zhang Jiuling, making Meng also famous for his poetry in Chang'an. But he failed when he took the exam. It is not difficult to imagine that he was even more frustrated in his heart.

Earlier, Meng still remembered that at a gathering of poets, because there was a couplet in his poem about the gentle clouds on the river and the sparse raindrops on the sycamore trees, he won the unanimous praise of everyone, thinking that such a pure poem The works are difficult for ordinary people to write. In this regard, the poet is naturally quite conceited. But fate just likes to play tricks on him. He actually failed to do so in the exam that he thought he had a chance to win!

He also wanted to write a letter directly to the emperor and ask for an interview in order to gain fame, but the noble-minded poet found it difficult to say it for a while; therefore, the matter was delayed in this hesitation. However, if he returned to his hometown empty-handed like this, he would undoubtedly be very unwilling to do so. After all, the purpose of coming out this time was far from being achieved. So, he wrote a poem titled "Returning to Nanshan at the End of the Year" at the residence of his good friend Wang Wei to express his dilemma.

As soon as he finished writing the poem, Wang Wei came in and saw at a glance that Meng's new poem was written as follows:

Bei Quexiu wrote a letter, and Nanshan returned to my hut.

If you don’t know your talent, you will give up, and if you are sick, you will lose touch with your friends.

White hair makes you grow old, and green hair makes you grow old.

I will never sleep with sorrow, the full moon is full of pines and the window is empty.

As soon as he read it once, Wang Wei admired it very much, but he couldn't help but sigh.

It's not that he doesn't want to help his friend, but how can he be a real big help now? While I was thinking hard, suddenly a little book boy came over in a hurry and reported to Mr. Wang: The emperor is coming! When Wang Wei heard this, he couldn't help but panic. How should he recommend Meng Haoran without violating the imperial edict? At this time, Meng Haoran was undoubtedly more nervous. He wanted to visit the emperor, but now, his identity? ...

At this moment, Xuanzong's footsteps were getting closer and closer; seeing that Xuanzong was about to open the door and come in, Wang Wei pointed Meng Haoran under his bed and pushed it gently, while he hurriedly came out to greet him. The emperor descends in great glory. While waiting for Xuanzong to sit down, Wang Wei did not dare to hide that the poet Meng Haoran was hiding in the room; because he knew what the consequences of the crime of bullying the emperor would be if the emperor found out.

When Xuanzong learned that the famous poet Meng Haoran was here, he was very happy and said to Wang Wei: I have known the name of this person's poem for a long time. Now that he is here, please come out and see him. Why not see it! In this way, Meng Haoran was immediately ordered to come out and see the emperor. Xuanzong asked Meng Haoran kindly: Did Aiqing bring any poems? Meng hurriedly said: Because I came in a hurry, I accidentally didn't bring it with me. Xuanzong then smiled and said: As a poet, how can anyone not write on the spot? How about you write a poem for me on the spot? In this way, Meng Sui recited the poem he had just written aloud in a melodious tone:

The letter is written from the break in the north, and I return to my hut in the south. Uncai Mingzhu abandons...

Just when he heard "Uncai Mingzhu...", before Meng Haoran finished reading the whole poem, Xuanzong became extremely impatient and arbitrarily told Meng to stop with a wave of his hand. , said in despair: You know, it's just that you don't come to ask for an official! In fact, I have not abandoned you, but you actually want to frame me in your poem? ! After saying that, he asked Meng to return to Zhongnan Mountain.

The poet Meng Haoran, who met with disgrace on his way to an official position, had to leave the capital Chang'an in frustration; but because of his outstanding poetic talent, he has always been the object of almost unanimous praise from critics. This is probably what Xuanzong did not expect. There are undoubtedly many roads in life, and the so-called "all roads lead to Rome" is a figurative way of saying it; and the poet Meng Haoran's ultimate achievement also proves that he can still become a prominent figure in the history of Chinese literature even if he does not become an official. one. This is of course not accidental. This is because the poet does not treat life with abandon! Because as long as you respect yourself and work hard, even the most powerful person will not be able to stop you from moving forward!
