The Wife of Lot is a poem written by Nobel Prize in Literature winner wisawa szymborska in 1996. She was born in an intellectual family in Bunin, a western Polish town (now part of konic) on July 2, 923. At that time, her country had just got rid of the shadow of World War I, and her family moved to Krakow in southern Poland in193/kloc-0. Krakow has been the capital of Poland from14th century to17th century, and was once rated as one of the twelve most beautiful cities in the world by the United Nations. At this time, there are ancient volunteers, the mausoleum of the Polish emperor, magnificent squares and museums with rich collections, all of which constitute a rich cultural atmosphere. Consistent with the cultural atmosphere of this city, it is the poet's long-term elegant and scholarly family atmosphere. According to the poet's memory, reading was the most talked about topic in her childhood family life. She began to write children's poems at the age of five, and her father was the first enthusiastic reader. Sin Posca studied in philosophy department of Jagger University from 1945 to 1994. This is the oldest university in Poland, built in the 10 century, based on political and religious tolerance. The famous astronomer Copernicus and Madame Curie, the discoverer of radium, both graduated from this university. The poet has been married twice in his life and has no children. Simboska knows the taste of poetry and life, so she said, "I prefer the absurdity of writing poetry to the absurdity of not writing poetry."
She is the third female poet to win the Nobel Prize in Literature (the first two were mistral in Chile in 1945 and Shaquez in Germany in 1966), the fourth Polish writer to win the Nobel Prize in Literature, and the most popular female poet in Poland today. Although her poems are very rigorous and serious, they are widely read in Poland. Her collection of poems, A Huge Number, was published in 1976, and sold out within a week after the first printing of 10,000 copies, which is really a huge number in the poetry circle.
