Du Mu, the author of Red Cliff, is a poet in the Tang Dynasty. He lived in the declining late Tang Dynasty, and his greatest political ambition was to restore the prosperous scene before Tianbao in the Tang Dynasty. He opposed the extravagance and waste of the supreme ruler, lacked sympathy for state affairs, and even hated the separatist regime in the buffer region and the intrusion of Uighur and Tubo aristocratic ruling groups. He believes that the Tang Dynasty must eliminate these two scourges, strengthen unity and recover lost land, so that the country can be stable and the people's suffering can be alleviated. However, he was never used by the rulers and failed to display his ambition, so he always lamented his melancholy. Du Mu has made remarkable achievements in poetry. Later generations called Du Fu in the prosperous Tang Dynasty "Lao Du" and Du Mu in the late Tang Dynasty "Xiao Du". He is the author of Fan Jichuan.
