The original meaning of the name. Words of advice and admonishment. "Book · Pan Geng 1": "When you look down on the people, you still have to pay attention to the proverbs." Zeng Yunqian was reading: "Proverbs are words of admonition." An ancient literary style with the purpose of disciplining others or oneself. The original meaning is motto, morality and admonition. For example, Yang Xiong's "Jizhou Proverbs" in the Western Han Dynasty, Zhang Hua's "Nv Shi Proverbs" in the Western Jin Dynasty, etc.
In the 6th century BC, the proverb poets of ancient Greece compiled ancient sayings into a collection of aphorisms. Therefore, all poems that deal with ethical and moral issues in a moral way, such as "instructional poems" in the Bible, Latin admonishment poems, ancient Icelandic poems and ancient English aphorism poems, are also collectively called proverb poems.
