Dai Wangshu's aesthetic standards of creation and acceptance make poetry between expression and concealment, that is, the hazy beauty of poetry. His famous work Rain Lane began to show sentimental mood and symbolism.
The artistic features of his poems are mainly manifested in two aspects:
First, the image of traditional poetry, exaggeration and repetition similar to folk songs, and modern symbolism with hazy images are combined without trace, which shows the helplessness and sadness of the poet struggling in a modern society with lost ideals. He is unwilling to give up but unable to recover. For example, in The Dreamer, the dreamer climbed an iceberg for nine years and sailed in the dry sea for nine years. When the dream bloomed, he was "scarred" and "his eyes were dim", and his persistent pursuit spirit was placed in countless hazy images. In a poetic form similar to folk songs, it is both clear and meaningful. Similarly, in Birds in Paradise, the author's contradictions and doubts about his ideal pursuit are also expressed through images such as Birds in Paradise.
Secondly, the complex and subtle feelings of modern people are implicitly expressed in friendly daily oral tone. The two poems, Dreamcatcher and Birds in Heaven, are clear in language, but obviously different from folk songs, and the thoughts and feelings expressed are not single, but complex. The expression of modern people's persistent pursuit of ideals is clear, but the fatigue and sadness in the pursuit are confused, hazy and implicit. This clear and chaotic style is just suitable for expressing the contradictory mood of modern people.
In addition to the above two aspects, Dai Wangshu's poetic art has other characteristics. Among them, the most prominent is his application of various techniques in poetry. Such as synaesthesia, metaphor, thimble, personification, symbol, overlap, repetition and so on. The phrase "I'm lying here/chewing the fragrance of the sun" in To Fireflies has always been praised by people. The poet wonderfully communicates vision, taste and smell, and integrates feelings into one sentence. Another example is the poem "Autumn Fly", which reads "Countless pairs of eyes/weak flies look dizzy/this suffocating afternoon/it scratches its head helplessly and scratches its stomach//konoha, konoha, konoha/endless konoha rustling ...". In the psychological structure of three-dimensional flow, the poet uses anthropomorphic methods to describe the image of Qiu Fei, which permeates his aversion to the declining real world and his helplessness as a political martyr. This multi-level psychological process reflects the poet's psychological experience. It combines hallucinations, associations and emotional activities with overlapping words, creating a "psychological gestalt" with a sense of total or super-official, which has a strong sense of thinness and depth. In a word, with the help of various artistic techniques, the poet constantly stirs the colorful wings of language and endows poetry with beauty, vividness and brilliance.
