From a historical perspective, why can't anyone write more poems than the ancients?

In fact, it is not entirely because the poems written by people today are not as good as those written in ancient times. There are several factors to pay attention to:

1, different historical backgrounds

The scope of classical Chinese and vernacular Chinese has changed, so there are fewer opportunities for application, and it is normal to have low proficiency in operation. In the past, classical Chinese was a social need, but now it is mostly interested, with different degrees of concern and different quality, which is understandable. If we take an examination of civil servants now, all the articles will be answered in classical Chinese, and the effect will definitely be different.

2. The formal differences of inheritance.

In fact, some people's poems are still good now. Of course, these good works do not refer to those that have been hyped up, but only occasionally caught a glimpse in online works, only ignored, and there is no systematic induction and collection.

As once speculated, the masterpieces of the ancients must be more than these, covering inheritance or loss, life and literary luck.

3. Differences in people's needs

At present, people have many choices of leisure and entertainment methods. The fast, straightforward and implicit things are weak in market choice, lacking in pursuit and hype. Good works cannot be circulated, and even if they are circulated, the audience is very narrow. Only by gnawing roots and getting a classic can we afford quaint things.
