Original text and translation of Li He’s poem

Original text:

Li He's courtesy name is Changji, which is derived from Queen Zheng. At the age of seven, he was able to write poems. Han Yu and Huangfu Shi (famous literati at that time) ① did not believe it when they first heard about it, so they visited his home and sent people to congratulate him and compose poems. People were shocked because he was famous. He is a thin man, with thick eyebrows, long fingers and claws, and can write quickly. Whenever the sun rises, he rides on a weak horse and has been a slave since he was a child. Establish a title first and then write a poem before it begins, just like someone else involved with Cheng Ke⑦. And ⑧ return in the evening, it is enough. This is the rate unless you are drunk or mourning. It’s not very economical to pass. The mother asked her maid to look into the bag, and when she saw a lot of books, she said angrily: "This son is going to feel sick, but it's his ears!" , but the pawn will not be raised. He also died young, so few of his poems have been handed down from generation to generation.

I believed it, so I visited his home and asked him to write a poem. He wrote "Gaoxuan Guo" with just one stroke of his pen, as if it had been conceived and drafted in advance. The two of them were shocked, and Li He became famous from then on. Li He goes out every morning, riding a thin horse, followed by a young servant, carrying an ancient brochure bag. Whenever he has a good work, he writes it and puts it in the brochure bag. He didn't think about the topic first before writing the poem, just like attending other people's assignments. Go home in the evening and accumulate. As long as it wasn't a special day like getting drunk or mourning, he would do this every day, and he wouldn't pay much attention to it after it passed. His mother showed the maid his brocade bag, and when she saw that he had written many poems, she angrily said, "This kid won't stop until he vomits his heart out!"

Because his father's name was Jin Su. (Same pronunciation as "jin") He was not allowed to be ranked in the imperial examination for life. Han Yu defended him for writing the poem "Taobian", but he was still not a scholar after his death. Because Li He died young, few of his poems have been praised from generation to generation.

"Gaoxuan Pass"

The embroidered bridle is as green as green onions, and the golden ring presses the bridle to sway exquisitely. The sound of the horse's hooves is hidden in the ears, and the horse's energy is like a rainbow when entering the door. Yun is a talented scholar from Tokyo and a great writer. The twenty-eight constellations have a broad mind, and the essence is strong and persevering. The sound of the poem written in front of the hall is empty, and the pen is in vain to make up for the creation of heaven. The book guest with pangmei feels the autumn fluff, who knows that the dead grass will give birth to splendor. Today I am hanging my wings to the underworld, but in the future I will not be ashamed to be a snake and become a dragon.
