Commonly known as Cordyceps sinensis, it belongs to entomogenous fungi; Among more than 530 kinds of Cordyceps found all over the world, cicada and Cordyceps are only two of them. It is a wonderful creature with the morphological characteristics of "animal" and "plant". Roots are cicada larvae, and flowers grow from the heads of single or 2-3 cicada larvae, which are about one inch long and branch from the top. The milky yellow pollen, also known as "cicada spore powder" or "seed" for short, has reproductive function.
Every year in June and July, the temperature and humidity are suitable, and pale yellow or egg-yellow spore stalks grow at the front ends of pests and dead insects, breaking through the topsoil and reaching out to the ground to form our common cicada flowers.
