Seven-Character Song Style: It comes from the ancient Yuefu, first created in "Yan Ge Xing" by Cao Pi, Emperor Wen of Wei Dynasty, and flourished in the Tang Dynasty. It is a special style, and the words "song" and "行" are often found in poem titles. It is a type of poetry that can be sung to music. Generally, the number of sentences is not fixed, and the number of words in each sentence is not fixed either. It can be mixed with three-character or five-character sentences, but seven-character sentences are the main ones. The purpose of creating the seven-character song line is to imitate the lyrics, and its style is determined by the lyrics suitable for singing.
Seven-character rhymed poetry: It is a type of modern Chinese poetry. The meter is strict. It originated from the new style poems of Shen Yue and others in the Qi Yongming Dynasty in the Southern Dynasty, which paid attention to rhythm and parallelism. It was further developed in the early Tang Dynasty by Shen Quanqi and Song Zhiwen, and matured in Du Fu. Rhymed poetry requires that the number of words in the verses be uniform. Rhymed poetry consists of eight sentences, and seven-character sentences are called seven-character rhythmic poetry. There are eight lines in each line, seven characters in each line, and one couplet for every two lines. There are four couplets, divided into head couplet, chin couplet, neck couplet and tail couplet.
Seven-character quatrain: It is a type of quatrain, belonging to the category of modern poetry. The quatrain is composed of four sentences and has strict metrical requirements. Common quatrains include five-character quatrains, seven-character quatrains, and the rare six-character quatrains. A quatrain with seven characters in each sentence is a seven-character quatrain.
Modern style poetry: also known as modern style poetry or metrical poetry, it is a Han poetry genre that pays attention to level, antithesis and rhyme. It is named modern style because it is different from ancient style poetry. Refers to the metrical poetry style formed in the Tang Dynasty. In modern poetry, there are strict restrictions on the number of sentences, words, level, and rhyme. Modern poetry is the main poetry style after the Tang Dynasty. Famous representative poets include: Li Bai, Du Fu, Li Shangyin, Lu You, etc. It plays an important role in the history of Chinese poetry.
First of all, the seven-character song line comes from the ancient Yuefu, while the Qigu is a separate poetry style after the emergence of the Qilu. The two have different origins.
Secondly, in terms of the main characteristics of the style, Qigu requires a clear distinction from seven-character rhymed poetry (including seven lines and seven rows). Seven-character ancient poems are particular about using Sanping tone at the foot of each sentence and not avoiding Guping in the sentence. These are all reactions to metrical poetry. As for the seven-character song line, although some of the early works are quite similar to Qigu in style, the phenomenon of rhythmicization has become more and more serious in the process of its evolution. Thirdly, from the perspective of literary style, the typical style of Qigu is upright, vigorous, solemn and elegant, while the typical style of songs is flowing, vertical and horizontal.
