Standing in front of the world's big banks such as Citigroup and HSBC, we are not advanced in management; In terms of business varieties, we are not rich; On marketing, let alone mastery; As far as service level is concerned, we are far from satisfying customers ... We are not without advantages in reform, talents, technology and capital, nor are we unwilling to make progress and development, so where is the gap? Besides time, what are our shortcomings? Some people may ask: Is this the case? Is it that serious? The answer is yes. Thought determines action. As early as the early 1980s, Comrade Deng Xiaoping put forward the slogan of "emancipating the mind and changing the concept", which greatly promoted the rapid development of China's reform and opening up. The affirmation and admiration of market economy has led to the rapid development of China's economic construction in recent ten years. For us, concept controls action. Sticking to the old, negative and even wrong business philosophy will only hinder the development and growth of the Bank. In the past, because I was addicted to the feeling of "silver boss" under monopoly operation, I couldn't really be "customer-centered" and the service work progressed slowly; Because I am used to waiting for customers, I lack sufficient marketing ability and market development work; Because I am used to eating the same pot, I can't really establish a positive concept of income and risk, with high non-performing loans and poor asset quality; Because it is confined to a small circle in one place and one line, it turns a blind eye to the development trend of the world financial industry and the progress trend of the international banking industry. Intermediary business can't achieve a qualitative leap, and the management level is stagnant ... Without scientific and correct operation and distinctive ideas, we are burdened with heavy historical burdens, missed many development opportunities, and widened the gap with the world banking industry. In fact, we are not short of confidence and determination in the future, nor are we short of courage and courage to meet challenges, nor are we short of capital, technology and talents, which are not far from foreign commercial banks. If we have a scientific, correct, market-oriented and characteristic business philosophy tempered by the long-term market, then these rich spiritual and material resources will surely converge into a powerful development force and become a solid foundation and inexhaustible motive force for ICBC to move towards a better future!

Business philosophy is not something floating in mid-air. Just as fresh and refreshing, the air on which human beings live comes from every green leaf, and it comes from the mind and concept of every ICBC employee; Its correctness, scientificity and ICBC characteristics are not empty and general. If an employee's wrong consciousness will only affect one business, then the deviation of a team and a group will affect the business development and even survival of the whole bank. In the first half of the year, the activity of "WTO and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China's business philosophy theme education" was aimed at implanting scientific and correct business philosophy into every employee's mind and rooted in every employee's ideology.

It is of profound practical significance, pertinence and guidance to choose to carry out such an educational activity with a distinct theme in the first year after China's entry into WTO. After joining the WTO, it not only means that China's reform and opening up has entered a brand-new stage, but more importantly, according to the spirit of the WTO, domestic and foreign enterprises should compete fully, fairly and openly in the same market, which is also the fundamental purpose of many WTO rules and principles. We know these basic WTO rules and principles, as well as other basic WTO knowledge, so as to improve our understanding of market competition, establish sufficient competition awareness, and lay a solid business philosophy foundation and sufficient psychological and conceptual preparation for launching competition and meeting market challenges. "When the two armies meet, the brave win, the two brave meet and the wise win." Since the beginning of this year, according to the commitment of the Chinese government to open the market, foreign commercial banks have stepped up their landing in the domestic market and actively attacked the city and plundered the land. The severe market attack and defense situation between domestic and foreign commercial banks has begun to appear. This can be seen from the events such as Citigroup's small deposit charge and Nanjing Ericsson's defection. Why does Citi's charging incident cause controversy? It is the collision between its business philosophy of cost accounting and efficiency priority and the business philosophy of extensive management and blind expansion of scale in domestic businesses. Why does the defection of Nanjing Ericsson attract attention? Its market appeal comes from the business philosophy of providing value-added services to customers. At the same time, let us clearly realize that if we don't innovate our business philosophy as soon as possible, the next defection will happen around us! A customer who came to our bank for business complained every time there was a long queue: "If there was Citibank next to me, I would never come here to deposit money!" "Hearing this, as an employee of ICBC, I feel deeply guilty and uneasy, but I'm also worried that maybe in three to five years, Citigroup or HSBC won't really drive across from us or next door, but our service concept, awareness and business philosophy can't be changed. I have a deeper thought: if we do better than foreign commercial banks such as Citigroup and HSBC, even if they open their business outlets next door, what's the harm?
